The P-912MK2 from TOA Electronics is a 120 watt single-channel modular amplifier ideal for paging, background music, or on-hold music. It offers a wide frequency response, low noise and distortion, and TOA's well-known quality and reliability. It has a single module slot for easy custom configuration using TOA plug-in modules. The system also has a direct input so that it may be used without an input module.

The P-912MK2 has a selectable input sensitivity to accommodate high or low inputs levels, a low cut switch to limit low frequency response, a master volume control, indicators for normal, signal, power, protect, and signal, and a turn-on delay which disconnects the output during power-up to prevent shock to the speakers.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are you able to utilize a manual focus option incase the slide is bent or damaged and the autofocus isn't working?

A: There is no manual focusing option on this scanner. The lens is fixed.

Q: 2. how many images will it scan at a time?

A: With a strip of film in the holder you have to do one at a time, although after you do the settings for one, you can move to the next scan pretty easily

Q: 3. Is it compatible with Apple's new OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 operating system?

A: Plustek has not released updated drivers for OS X Mavericks at this time.

Q: 4. Is this the only Plustek scanner that scans both 35mm and 120mm film ? Are 120mm film holders purchased separately ?

A: The 120mm film holders are included. The other model we have that scans both 35mm and 120mm is the Pacific Image PF120.

Q: 5. How can customers discriminate between the old very slow scanner and the new updated 2024 version scanner? Same Mfr#, Same B&H# !!!

A: We only sell the current version of the Plustek OpticFilm 120 Film Scanner. The part number on this version is OF120, while the prior model had a 12-digit part number.

Q: 6. All of my 120 negatives are cut to fit 9 1/2 clear vu sheets, i.e. 4 negatives in 6x6 format. Will the 120 holder allow scanning without cutting or damaging the 2 1/4 x9 1/2 negative strip?

A: Maybe. The scanner will only scan up to 3 frames at a time and the holder is about 3/4 shorter than what is needed to accommodate your strip. The last portion will be curled. The good news is that when you are done with the first three you can turn the film 180 degrees and scan the last frame. The holder will hold the film flat enough to scan. I have not had it damage my film yet, but if the film is older (20 years or more) or brittle I would not attempt it without cutting the strip.

Q: 7. Is there a difference between this and flatbed scanners?

A: Both a film scanner and flatbed scanner operate using a light source and sensors that scan through the transparency. A dedicated film scanner utilizes a transmissive light source while a flatbed scanner uses a reflective light source. The result is greater density and clarity scanned from the transmissive light from a film scanner. Current higher quality flatbed scanners offer transparency and negative holders and often include an additional light source on the lid to mimic the transmissive light.

Q: 8. How many 35mm slides and 35mm negatives will this batch scan?

A: You can scan 5 35mm slides and 2 strips of 6 35mm negatives.

Q: 9. What improvements changed between the original version and this new release?

A: According to the manufacturer, compared to the original version, the new Plustek OpticFilm 120 Film Scanner has an entirely new sensor and upgraded, higher-quality circuitry when compared to its predecessor. Plustek has a new manufacturing process with stricter quality control, and the scanner's calibration has been adjusted for better overall performance and image quality.

Q: 10. How does the batch feature work? Is it a mode that the machine is in to speed up the process?About how long would it take to do 20 Kodochrome or Ekachrome slides in the batch mode.

A: Plustek does not publish a scan time and the amount of time needed to scan a 35mm film frame will depend on the scan features you choose as they will affect the total time needed to scan a 35mm film frame. Back when I scanned my library of negatives, using multi sampling and Digital ICE, a single frame took about 5 minutes. The OpticFilm 120 uses an automatic motorized film transport system that speeds the scanning workow. You load 5 mounted slides into the holder and the scanner will scan each one chrome individually.
