The Tiffen 4 x 5" Soft/FX 4 Filter can be applied to purposely reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits or to apply a general soft-focus effect while maintaining overall sharpness. An array of small lenses distributed within the surface of this filter smooths fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject.

This filter has a grade of 4. Grades of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, and 5 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halation effect around highlights can be created to further enhance a subject's appearance or produce a desired effect.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 4mm-thick, 4 x 5" rectangular filters. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. It will work with DJI X5S?

A: There are three issues to consider. (1) Balance. Since this lens and the Olympus 14-42 (the only X5 supported zoom) are about the same weight and have the same thread diameter, there is a good chance that the balance ring for the Olympus (a 37mm-23 gram) will work (2) Control of the power zoom from the DJI Go app. Since this lens has power zoom it seems like it should work, but it depends on the pin positions, and whether there is something within the DJI Go app that needs to be adjusted. (3) Power O.I.S. Nope, there is no reason to expect that this will work on the X5. So until someone is willing to test it, your long awaited answer is maybe, maybe not.

Q: 2. Hi. Will it work with the new Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 BH #BLMSC4KG2 ?

A: Yes, it will work on Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2. Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Power O.I.S. Lens has the same MFT lens mount.

Q: 3. Will Tamron 16-300mm work for new Canon EOS 77D in live-view mode?

A: I tried the Tamron 16-300mm on my Sony a7RII with a Sony A-MOUNT TO E-MOUNT ADAPTOR(BH# SOLAEA3) and had serious issues with focusing. I returned the lens although I loved its range and it may have just been the adapter's problem. I settled for the more compatible Sony 24-240mm E-mount and am avoiding adapters in future. Will it work for the new Canon EOS 77D? You will not know until you try it. B&H are very good about returns if you are not happy with it.

Q: 4. Is this an internal zoom lens, or does it extend when increasing focal length?

A: The Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens extends when zooming.

Q: 5. Will this lens work with the Olympus em10?. I'm looking to use the electronic zoom shortcut on the camera. Looks like this lens is a bit better than the Olympus counterpart. Thanks for reading. David

A: I am not sure.. but your best bet is to call the Camera people to know..compatibility...I used it on Blackmagic pocket camera..even then not all feature did work.. ex. the lens could not be retracted from the control panel...so you see... you need to check with the camera people or go to a user site for that camera.

Q: 6. Is the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm lens capable of live Auto focus on BMPCC 4K video recording?

A: This lens will work with the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K's One Touch Auto Focus Feature. The Pocket Cinema Camera 4K does not offer continuous auto focus.

Q: 7. Does the lens suffer from zoom lens creep where the lens extends by itself when pointed down? Thank you.

A: The Tamron 16-300 f/3.5-6.3 will not creep when pointed downward.

Q: 8. Can this lens be used on A Canon Elon 7 film camera?

A: No, it cannot. The Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO Lens for Canon is specifically designed for use on Canon DSLR cameras that use the smaller APS-C sensor. Attempting to use this lens on a full-frame 35mm film camera may physically damage the camera's reflexing mirror, rear optical lens element, or both the camera and lens.

Q: 9. To attach Tamron 16-300mm lens to Canon 70D should I align the red attachment mark on the lens barret with the red dot or the white square mark on the camera ? Thanks

A: To attach the Tamron 16-300mm lens to the the 70D, you want to align the lens attachment mark to the white square.

Q: 10. Is the warranty a USA warranty?

A: Yes, Tamron's limited 6 year warranty is USA only.
