A: The Canon 6D will not auto-focus at f/8, not even at the Center point). It is the only Canon full frame body since the 5D Mark II that won't.Therefore, you would have to manually focus with the 1.4x or 2.0x Extenders.The 100-400mm Mark II lens is the same speed, so it would have the same issue with an Extender on the 6D.

A: Sorry, the EF-S lenses's rear elements would hit the glass of the extender. Even if you could mount the lenses and extenders, the lenses wound vignette, be too slow for auto focus and the image quality would be poor. So what are these good for? They are best for the expensive L lenses particularly telephoto primes with f/2.8 apertures. In such an application, the extenders fit correctly, will not vignette, have enough speed for auto focus and whatever image degradation they create would be erased by the high quality L grade glass.

Q: 3. Will the Canon EF 1.4X III be compatible in AF with a Canon 7D and the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II lens?

A: Yes, the Canon Extender EF 1.4X III is compatible with the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II lens (the teleconverter will work on any Canon EOS SLR or DSLR camera - you only have to check the compatibility of the lens, though autofocus capability may vary depending on the camera model). The lens would become an equivalent of a 140-560mm f/6.3-8 lens. If you have the original Canon EOS 7D DSLR camera, as the camera requires a maximum aperture of f/5.6 or brighter, you may have to focus this setup manually. If you have the Canon EOS 7D Mark II, as it has been improved and would allow autofocusing with a maximum aperture of f/8, you would then be able to use autofocus with this combination setup.

Q: 4. Does this teleconverter works with canon SL1 & 400mm f5.6 prime?

A: I've only used the converter with the 10-400mm II lens and 5D4 body. I don't think that this converter and 400mm prime lens combination would work well with the Rebel models.

If AF point expansion (manual selection) is selected, while not manually selectable, the four adjacent AF points above, below, left, and right of the center point may be used.
