Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I am concerned about the space between my camera lens and the 4x5.65 ND filter. Typically the ND tray is closer to the lens. Will I get strange refraction/reflection issues? Thank you.

A: As stated by multiple users, light refraction is a potential issue, but depending upon placement and the surrounding intensity of the lighting conditions, it is something that can be controlled.

Q: 2. What size slip on lens cap will fit with the tilta rings?

A: Question is not entirely clear, but it would depend on the lens being used.

Q: 3. I want to make sure I’m understanding this correctly. The matte box comes with various adapters that screw into the thread on your lens (not the outer diameter). You then clamp the matte box onto the now attached threaded adapter. Is that correct?

A: That is correct. This comes with the following adapter for connecting: 67mm Adapter Ring 72mm Adapter Ring 77mm Adapter Ring 82mm Adapter Ring 15mm Single Rod Clamp

Q: 4. my filter thread for my Panasonic HH025 LUMIX G Lens, 25mm, F1.7 ASPH is 46mm, do you think it would work with the matte box?

A: You will need a 46mm to 67/72/77/82mm step-up ring to make your lens compatible with this matte box.

Q: 5. I'm planning to put this in a pelican with some other gear I already own. Can someone measure the dimensions of the mattebox when folded into its smallest form? In cm preferably.

A: The folded dimensions of MB-CMS are mentioned below: Length: 23cm Width: 24.5cm Height: 8cm

Q: 6. Will this clamp on to the Gobe 77mm variable ND I have on my lens it has threads to accept the rings or will the whole matte box move when I use the ND?

A: In order to use your filter, first place the matte box adapter ring on the lens. Then you screw-in the filter to the adapter. Adjust the filter to where you want the effect. Then you mount the matte box itself. This allows the adjustment of the filter yet the matte box stays in its correct orientation.

Q: 7. Should I buy something else to fit it to the cage ?

A: There are many alternative matte boxes but the Tiltaing Mini Matte Box is a very portable matte box option that does not interfere with camera cages.

Q: 8. Would this matte box fit on the Sigma T1.5 FF High-speed prime cine lenses?

A: Most of the lenses in that series will work. However, there are a few wide angle lenses that have an outer diameter larger than 95mm. If the outer diameter is larger than 95mm, it will not be compatible with the Tiltaing Mini Matte Box.

Q: 9. Can you use the Tiffen 77mm Variable Neutral Density Filter with, for example a rokinon 24mm lens and this matte box??

A: Unfortunately the Tiffen 77mm Variable neutral density doesn't offer threading in the front of the filter to screw in the 77mm adapter ring provided by Tilta for attachment to the matte box.

Q: 10. Can I attached 72mm B+W XS Pro Variable ND to the 72mm adapter ring? Does it fits?

A: Tilta states that Variable ND filters can be too thick to fit in this way. It is not recommended.
