Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this come with 2 15mm rails?

A: This Matte Box will not come with 15mm Rails. However we have a wide assortment of products with 15mm rails that you will be able to use this with, such as B&H Numbers INDIB, RESR1500 and GLRR100.

Q: 2. Does this adapter also work with F mount lenses?

A: Yes, it does. Its high quality, and can be used with any Nikon F lens. Good shopping

Q: 3. Hi! I pretend to use this adapter on a g7 Panasonic with the lenses: 10-24 DX, 70-300VR, 50mm 1.8D and 24mm 2.8. Will focus and maximum aperture work perfectly with all those lenses? Is there some restrictions? Will the minimum focus work, as well to infinite? Thanks!

A: Hi, i use the adapter in 2 versions for BMCC and BMPCC with sigma zoom. It works perfectly

Q: 4. I want to use my 70-200 2.8 VR II on Sony A7, Can I do?Has AF?Thanks

A: Yes, you will be able to use a Nikkor 70-200mm VR II f/2.8 on the Sony A7 with this adapter, since it is a Nikon G lens. However, you will not be able to use electronic functions such as autofocus.

Q: 5. Does this adapter works with lenses that has a aperture ring already? So will it also work for non-G lenses?

A: This adapter does not work with Nikon F mounted lenses with an aperture like AI-s or AF-D series lenses. For an adapter that is compatible with these kind of lenses, please see B&H # MENFEBM2 .

Q: 6. If I use this adapter for nikon 70-200 f4 lens on my a7ii, what aperture it is when I turn on the camera? knowing that can help me calculating the apertures when I turn the aperture ring on the adapter. Thanks.

A: If you have an older nikon lens that has the aperture ring, all you have to do is set the aperture ring on this adaptor to wide open and set the aperture on the lens manually as you wold do when shooting on aperture priority, but if you own the newer Nikon lenses that set your aperture electronically, then this adapter won't tell you much on the exact aperture you took the pictures. I sold mine after a few months because I was not happy with it.

Q: 7. Work with the 70-200 f4 as well?

A: No, the Wimberley AP-611 Quick Release Replacement Foot for Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS, B&H # WIRLFS70200, is not compatible for use with the Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens. Instead, the Wimberley AP-616 Replacement Foot for Sony FE 600 f/4 GM OSS, B&H # WIAP616, would be the correct Wimberley replacement foot designed for use with the Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens.

Q: 8. Will this adapter retain exif LENS data? even just what lens is mounted? I know AF is out of the picture, but I don't see anything regarding exif data.

A: yes you get full EXIF info with this adapter, AF is slow.

Q: 9. Hi, will this work with the sony a7r plus the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Lens? Thanks

A: You could use the Metabones Nikon G Lens to Sony NEX Camera Lens Mount Adapter to mount a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens for Nikon on the Sony a7R, yes.

Q: 10. Do the numbers on the adapter correspond to the lens accurate f stops?

A: No they don't. When the Metabones adapter is installed, it overrides whatever f-stop you might set on the lens. In other words the Metabones adapter takes complete control of aperture. The numbers on the adapter range from F (for full wide open, I guess) through 1-6 to 7 which is fully stopped down. One can guess that halfway through the range from F to 7 might correspond with a mid-range lens aperture of about f8 or so, depending on the aperture range of the lens one is working with.
