Triad-orbit Om Orbit Mini - Short Single-arm Orbital Boom

The OM Orbit Mini from Triad-Orbit is the smaller version of the Orbit 1 orbital boom arm and is the companion boom for the optional Triad Mini Stand. The Orbit Mini provides flexible placement in tight spaces and back-line applications. All orbital booms utilize a proprietary, stainless-steel ball swivel mechanism to deliver a smooth, quiet and stable range of motion for surgically precise mic placement.
The Orbit Mini is also equipped with the IO quick-change coupler hex to mate with IO-equipped Triad stands. This is great for quickly changing or moving microphones without having to unscrew anything. The boom also utilizes an industrial-grade clutch in lieu of knob and thumbscrew to secure the point of adjustment. The knurled metal clutch barrel is coated to provide a comfortable ergonomic grip that yields more torque. With no protruding parts, the boom is designed to transport and store with ease.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. What is part number for extra microphone dong? Need extra dongs for extra mics so I can just bang them in without stopping to change out dongs.
A: These parts are sold as a pair only.
Q: 2. Can the ballast bag be emptied for travel, or would you recommend against it?
A: According to Triad-Orbit, you could theoretically unzip the bags and empty them, but the zipper is slightly hidden. The steel shot is in a secondary, thinner zippered pouch inside the main bag. The only downside would be filing it wherever you're traveling to. For example, using dry sand would have less than half the weight of the ballast material that the bag currently has inside.
Q: 3. How many of the quick change couplers does this device come with?
A: There are three Triad-Orbit IO-R38 Quick-Change Couplers (B&H # TRIOR38) included with the Triad-Orbit IO-Vector Utility Mounting Bar. Additional IO-R38 Quick-Change Couplers can be purchased separately.
Q: 4. Will this connect the IO Utility Laptop Desk to my Manfrotto tripod?
A: with the impact Short Double-Female Round Spigot with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 Threads https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1305583-REG/impact_srp_101p_round_short_adapter_with.html?sts=pi&pim=Y
Q: 5. Is there a similar stand - with a squeeze-handle for raising and lowering, for a video camera? Cam. is just a few lb.
A: We do not offer a tripod stand system similar to the Triad-Orbit T3C Rolling Tripod Stand and VESA Video Display Mount Kit (B&H # TRT3CMK) (B&H Kit), that features a squeeze handle colum lock release.
Q: 6. Will this work with a SM7b? Is there a steel version? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/225820-REG/Shure_SM7B_SM7B_Cardioid_Dynamic.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw64eJBhAGEiwABr9o2EWXhHn_Oe3h7FhPcGs7rP-Bzs4VYA0FbuxpakoHxp2-cGci8FS6FBoCPtQQAvD_BwE
A: This will work with any microphone. All the quick change adapters by Triad are made of aluminum.
Q: 7. I already own some expensive heavy duty Atlas mic stands. I would like to consider the Triad Orbit quick change adapter as a means to quickly detach my boom from the stand itself. My booms have two pound counter weights and I generally use these stands for some very heavy and expensive condenser Mics. Does this adapter hold firmly and securely with no worry of vibration due to a loose or even slightly wobbly connection ? Because these 7/8 diameter mic stand setups weigh over twenty pounds total, I would like to be able to achieve rapid setup and takedown that they may also serve as stage performance stands. I realize that my question is lengthy. But, I think that the information given should be considered when looking to purchase a 40$ adapter. Thank you.
A: Hey Raymond,Thanks for your inquiry. The Triad-Orbit IO-R Quick-Change Coupler was designed and purpose-built for professional support applications. IO-R will provide solid, vibration-free coupling for your Atlas large format stands (MS20, MS25, MS43, SB36) and PB booms. Please refer to the PROfile videos on the Triad-Orbit website to see the IO-R in action at some of the world's finest recording facilities (a href= http://www.triad-orbit.com/profile target= _blank http://www.triad-orbit.com/profile/a).The IO-R ships with an IO-H1 hex mounting head. The hex shaft of the IO-H1 is made of brass. For heavy-duty and inverted support applications, we recommend the use of the IO-H2 hex mounting head. The IO-H2 features a stainless steel hex shaft and a SafetyStop notch to prevent accidental uncoupling. Incorporating the IO-H2 head with IO-R coupler will allow you to safely support, secure, suspend and position heavy studio mic like AEA & vintage RCA.Compare the performance of the Triad-Orbit IO-R/IO-H2 combo to any competitive quick-change couplers for your demanding application. Also, our new IO-RA lightweight aluminum body quick-change coupler is also available at only $20.00. Thanks for your interest in Triad-Orbit Advanced Stand Systems.

A: Yes. The IO-H2 5/8" Mounting Head from Triad-Orbit allows you to integrate 5/8" threaded gear to one of their IO-equipped stands or mounts, and is designed for added weight handling capacity.
Q: 9. Is th 5/8 correct fir SM7b, Procaster and Beta 58a?
A: Yes. Standard microphone threading is 5/8.
