A: RAID 1 is a pure backup format. You will go from 8TB capacity to 4TB capacity as one drive will simply copy the same information as the other drive. This can still be used for video editing, it just will not be as fast as a RAID 0 configuration, which is both drives acting as one.

Q: 5. I am understanding that this does not come with an actual hard drive, those come separate? And if so... what is recommended for this unit for editing video 4K?

A: It depends on power requirements. Did NOT work for the new MacBook Pro 16”. I tried this with a thunderbolt 3 cable...no go. I’d call tech support...in India...if that’s a deal breaker for you. I’ve heard the new Promise drives can power a more powerful monitor as they were made for the new Mac Pro.
