Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I replace head with a ball head capable of handling more than 8.8lbs? Whats load capacity of this tripod legs?

A: At this time we do not sell this tripod without a head. We do offer BH #OBCT3565BZ21 which is the same tripod with a BZ-217T Triple-Action Ball Head that has a 20 pound load capacity. That being said, if you need a video tripod that requires more than 8.8 pounds we highly suggest looking at different systems over buying this tripod and replacing the head.

Q: 2. Can I attach the monopod portion to the base of a gimble handle that is 1/4" female?

A: As long as you use a 3/8" to 1/4 20" adapter, then it will work. - https://bhpho.to/3rgw994

Q: 3. Is this tripod compatible with Manfrotto video 501 plates?

A: Yes, the Oben AT-3565 tripod has a 501-Type Quick Release Plate.

Q: 4. Will this fit 501pl plate?

A: This will not fit the 501PL plate.

Q: 5. Does it convert into monopod?

A: The Oben AC-1431 Aluminum Tripod with BA-108 Ball Head does not convert to a monopod. However, the Oben AT-3565 Aluminum Travel Tripod and BZ-217T Triple-Action Ball Head does convert to a monopod. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/2DYLUJe

Q: 6. Is the quick release system detachable? I have manfrotto plates and I'd like to know if i can attach my own system to the ball. Thanks!

A: Yes, the plate is removable on mine. There is an recessed Allen head screw in the mount plate. But if you want to use another companies proprietary plate I'd suggest you just buy a whole head from them. The mount plate for that would have to bolt on the same way. Personally I like the universal aspect of the Acra-Swiss system. I've converted all my tripods and mono-pods to that. 1 plate to rule them all!

Q: 7. Why is an Allen key included with this unit? It has a knob to tighten the unit to the window?. Is it for the ball head? But the ball head plate has a D ring. ???

A: The Allen key is for tightening the set screws to lock the ball head to the window mount base.

Q: 8. Is this head compatible with Manfrotto 501 plates?

A: Yes this tripod head supports Manfrotto 501-type quick-release plates. Like this model - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/553892-REG/Manfrotto_501PL_501PL_Sliding_Quick_Release.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 9. When I am panning left and right, the head begins to unscrew loose when I pan left. Panning left, of course, is the same action as unscrewing the head from the tripod. I can't tell whether this is as-designed or a defect. Is this normal?

A: We believe that the Oben head would have to be more tightly connected to your tripod.to prevent this issue.

Q: 10. Does it have a pan lock separated from the ball head? I mean is it possible that I can pan while the ball head is locked? Thank you!

A: The Oben BA-108 Ball Head uses a single lever locking mechanism, there is no separate pan lock.
