Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. would this pole support a Fuji xt-1 and 14mm Fuji lens?

A: We attached a gopro 3 silver with hardcase on top of a bracket that also held a small LED light bank. I can confirm that it handles that weight well, but you will feel less stable when all extensions are pulled out. Very sturdy on the first two extensions.

Q: 2. Is this lens compatible with a Canon eos r100?

A: Yes, the Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens is compatible with the Canon EOS R100 digital camera.

Q: 3. How do you take pictures? Is there a shutter mounted to the handle of the iPole or its strap? How do you activate the shutter to be able to get a picture?

A: To take pictures or video, you will have to manually set the self-timer settings or hit the record button on your device prior to use.

Q: 4. Does this lens have the same massive barrel distortion at the wide end that will need to be autocorrected like the 14-35?

A: Like most lenses wider than 20mm, the Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens does distort at the wide end of the lens. And depending on the specific shot can be better or worse as distortion goes. But most lenses that wide unless you are square at the subject will distort.

Q: 5. I use a Canon 70d. Many reviews report some rather strong chromatic aberration and barrel distortion at 15mm and again towards the 85mm focal lengths. Is this really a serous concern in the real world or will enabling the 70d's (or any cameras) internal Lens aberration correction remove these issues fairly well? Would I end up having to a lot of post work clearing these issue up with light room or other software? Thanks for your help.

A: The lens does have some distortion on the wide end and on both some chromatic aberration. It all depends on the shot, lighting and how large you will be blowing the images up and what resolution you are shooting in.There are better and there are worse lenses. So it is impossible to judge if it needs to be retouched or not and some of that is very subjective. Canon L lenses are the higher level lenses meaning they are weather sealed and have better optics. The best if you do not want to do any retouching on issues that might come up is to go with one of those lenses.

Q: 6. is there a 1/4-20 female mount at the bottom of the pole.

A: No, there is just a cushioned grip with no mounting.

Q: 7. I have Canon 7D body .I have been using a kit lens (EFS 17-85 mm ) which produces satisfactory images. Is the EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens a worthwhile upgrade from my current lens ?

A: Absolutely. I was thrilled to upgrade to this lens myself.

Q: 8. Can this handle an HDMI multiview feed from a Blackmagic ATEM Mini Extreme ISO?

A: Yes, the Multiview output would be supported. Please note the the Multiview output of the Atem Mini Pro, ISO, and extreme switchers is 1080p HD. OSEE Megamon 15 HDR Production Monitor is a Broadcast display, and compatible with the Atem Mini/Extreme HDMI output. Please note that many computer displays will not work with the Atem switchers HDMI output.

Q: 9. Can this pole be used in salt water? We need to submerge the GoPro beneath the water from a boat for footage of an aquatic BMP.

A: I would say yes if care is taken to completely rinse off the salt water after use. The two sections that slide together are very snug. It makes for a solid pole however if dried salt was in there it would make it hard for the pole to easily extend.

Q: 10. Is the EFS-15-85mm compatible with the 5D Mark III

A: No, the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens is not compatible with the 5D Mark III or any full frame Canon cameras. The Canon 5D Mark III is only compatible with EF lenses, not EF-S lenses.
