Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this be a good device for evening out the crazy volume levels on my tv?

A: Absolutely! Very simple...just set the Makeup Gain control at the 0 position, and set the Threshold to a level that brings down the extremely loud audio to a level near that of a normal listening level. If you hear the limiter pumping or breathing too much on louder program audio, lower the input level and tweak the Makeup Gain a bit to even things out. It works great for my hard-drive based music collection, which varies greatly in level due to the variety of formats and recording techniques used over the past 4 decades!

Q: 2. Are the inputs and outputs line level or speaker/high level?

A: Line Level

Q: 3. on the mono sumed output do you have level control?

A: Yes. The Low Output control can be used to adjust the output level of the mono summed low frequency band from +6 to -6 dB.

Q: 4. Can this be used in car audio for multiple subwoofer amps .all aready the same wattage

A: This is not the right device for what your likely trying to accomplish. In car audio your generally trying to split or repeat the same signal. This is designed to take signals from multiple sources and send to a single output. Although not recommended, you could achieve the same results using an RCA Y-adapter.If your that serious about car audio you should be using a electronic crossover with multiple outputs or high-end deck that supports multiple RCA pairs.

Q: 5. Why are there two outputs for the mono? Do you still hook up to your subwoofer with a single sub cable on either of the two mono outputs?

A: On the Rolls SX45 - 2-Way Stereo Crossover. One is for the crossover for the speaker highs to lows. The other is a separate mono out to a sub.

Q: 6. Does this meter have auto power off? i.e. will it power down automatically if not used for a while? I see an "auto off" button on the faceplate but there's no mention of this feature in the description or in the manual I found online. I'd be using this in a university lab where students forget to turn meters off so we eat a lot of batteries.

A: No this unit does not feature an auto shut off, must be turn off manually .

Q: 7. Is the pass thru full range or does it out put only the levels above what you set for the sub?

A: The Rolls SX95 Stereo Subwoofer Crossover / Filter features a true pass thru output that will allow proper connection to your system without any alterations to the original signal.

Q: 8. Will this fit the new 2021 16" MacBook Pro ?

A: Yes, the Thule Crossover 2 can accommodate the Macbook Pro.

Q: 9. does this come with leads?

A: Yes, it does.

Q: 10. Can this EQ be used in mixing or mastering?

A: The Rolls RPQ160b is a Parametric EQ so you can use it on what ever you want.

There is no standmount or floor standing speaker within reason that can control and put out bass like a quality sub. It is far better to cut off satellite speakers at 80hz (and the sub for that matter). The satellites will be more open and effortless, bass will be cleaner. A crossover will make a huge difference in detail, dynamics and clean slam.
Quit running your stand mounts or floor-standers full range. cross them over and you'll be rewarded with superior sound.

I bought the Rolls SX45 to separate my avr preamp output prior to bi-amping my speakers. That worked fine and I highly recommend it for anyone bi-amping on a budget.I had not intended to use the High Pass and Low Pass adjustments but have found them very useful and now just plug the phono pre-amp or DAC straight into SX45 and use it for volume adjustment when listening to music.I do not use a subwoofer so cannot comment on those outputs. My only gripe is not having a power button on the box - unplugging mains supply is a pest.

I got this crossover for the variable frequency crossover points for some speakers I am building. Perfect for my purpose and I can use it on other projects if I want to later. Good also to set different points and check the sound and the frequency response graph.

Never could get my QSC K10.2s to pair smoothly (to my ears) with my JBL PRX715XLF sub. I’m pretty sure it was a known problem with that sub, since it seemed JBL discontinued that model rather quickly in favor of the 815, which is quite similar, but with a revamped pass-through crossover scheme. Not willing to upgrade my sub, I though I’d give the Rolls SX45 a try. Couldn’t be happier given the price. I split the hi freq output (used mono feature) to my Mackie field mixer/tops and the low freq to my sub and adjusted the crossover point by ear (preferred ~90Khz). The Rolls is nice quality, quiet, and worked as advertised. For the money, one of my best electronics buys ever.
