Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The instructions say to mount the lens first to the adapter then the adapter to the camera and when removing, first detach the adapter from the camera. Is there a problem leaving the adapter on the camera when changing EF lenses?

A: Thee could be. Please follow the mounting and dismounting procedure outlined by the manufacturer to avoid any damage.

Q: 2. It says it supports 62lbs is this missing a decimal point? Serious question - it would be great if this did in fact support heavy lights.

A: These are very heavy duty and can easily support the weight as long as the stand can. I have used them with studio monolights, LED panels, as well as the more typical use of speedlights.

Q: 3. Will this attach to a 5/8 light stand? Thanks

A: Yes, the following system will adapt to any 5/8 system.

Q: 4. Only nit is the umbrella clamp is not shaped to firmly hold the smallest shaft umbrellas So does this mean it won't hold umbrellas with the small shaft or that it holds them in a sloppy manner??

A: I was unaware of any thing smaller than 7mm. It is designed to hold 7-10mm. What I really appreciated about the Varos was the curved pad that fit up against the umbrella shaft, I already have a bunch of umbrellas with dents made by my lesser holders. Looking at the pad that fits against the umbrella shaft, it would be a simple thing to add a shim the give proper contact should the shaft be narrower.

Q: 5. Can I mount a https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/32267-REG/Lowel_T1_10_Tota_Light_Tungsten_Flood_Light.html to this? I'm looking for something I can mount both the light and umbrella to, and angle them both together.

A: Yes this will work for that.

Q: 6. can the cold-shoe be removed to mount the Phottix Varos H-Mount Plate? Thanks

A: Yes, the Phottix Varos H-Mount Plate has a stud that swaps out with the cold-shoe very easily.

Q: 7. Is the cold shoe simply screwed in to a 1/4 spigot? Can the cold shoe be removed and replaced with a different cold shoe of my choice?

A: Yes. It is in a standard 5/8 spigot. Very handy for off camera flash.

Q: 8. Can this be used with the quikbox?

A: Unfortunately, this ring only works on softboxes that use a 4 rod system, such as the Impact Luxbanx Duo series. The image below shows one of this softboxes.

Q: 9. it is compatible with Nikon flashes?

A: Absolutely. The cold shoe at the top of the bracket clamps against the Nikon flash foot making a very secure hold. The umbrella clamp has a curved plate that presses against the shaft also for good hold without denting the umbrella shaft like some other brackets do. Great design. I have two of them.

Q: 10. is this compatible with Yongnuo speedlight?

A: Yes it is compatible with all the flashes since it is cold shoe, and a very nice build.
