The word compact doesn't really apply to this product because it is large and requires a good sized work area. The Instruction and video are great but read or watch twice before using the cutter. If you have done any woodworking you know the saying measure twice and cut once...the same applies to mat cutting. My first mat would have been perfect if I had followed the instructions. My second mat was perfect. I found the most difficult part of the whole process was choosing the mat board and the backer board. I never realized how many choices there were.

Using for hobbie...everything I hoped for and more....easy to use.

Since I received it a bit over a week ago, I have cut a number of 11x14 single mats and one double mat. It has worked as advertized. Easy to use. Very useful are the videos on the DVD that came with it as well as on Logan's website; this is how I learned how to cut the double mat. At first I had some overcuts but have worked that out (using 2 hands for better control near end of cut) and how the cuts are right on. Straight cutter was easy to use.

This mat cutter did everything that I wanted to do. It is well constructed and cut the standard mat boards that I purchased with out any problems. If you just want to mat an occational photo, this will serve you well.

I have used it a few times already and satisfied with the results. It does what it was purchased for and didn't break the budget.

For those who don't mat photo's very often like myself, it's an inexpensive alternative to purchasing mats from a frame shop. Does an excellent job of cutting accurate mats and quite simple to use. Buying your mat board and backing board in bulk will also reduce the cost of mating your own images.

I've made several LARGE PRINT Mats using this 32 cutter (24x36). I am a complete Neophyte and had NO PROBLEMS out of the gate. Product includes an excellent DVD Explaining how to use the product and outlines all the features. I made my first mat without many difficulties (other than my own abilities to do math to center an off center photo with text below). Long and short- it made excellent 45 degree cuts every time and it was very easy to use. I would recommend this to the neophyte or anyone interested in an excellent mat cutting tool at an excellent price. Includes the straight and 45 degree cutter- Nice appliaces a step ahead of the bargin basement cutters- hence the great results! - I'm unable to find the flaw- other than note it is a 32 cutter- you're at the outer reaches on a 36 mat.
