The VISION 250 HD Fluid Head from Vinten is designed to support the latest portable digital camera combinations used in studio and field broadcast productions. With its unique twin balancing mechanism, the Vision 250 can be fully adjusted to perfectly balance any camera or lens combination—either weighing up to 72.8 lb—quickly and easily. The VISION incorporates a drag mechanism employing non-contacting thin film technology which ensures consistent drag and constant performance over a temperature range from -40 to 140°F. TF drag allows for fine adjustment of drag levels, as well as whip pan movement without any manual reduction of the drag.

In addition, the Vision 250 has the benefit of digital counterbalance readout, backlit drag controls, and an illuminated leveling bubble to give the camera operator the quickest and most simple setup, even in low-light situations.

The Vision 250 pan/tilt head achieves the perfect counterbalance by means of an innovative and patented infinitely variable spring mechanism. This allows the head to tilt through the full range of ±90° in perfect balance, eliminating a considerable amount of physical effort required by the operator to control the tilting action. Since the camera is perfectly balanced, it can be left at any angle, totally hands-free, without having to lock the tilt brake. The variable counterbalance mechanism allows it to be used with a variety of lenses, batteries, viewfinders and on-camera lights. For even faster setup, the Vision 250 offers a digital counterbalance readout with repeatable balance setting. The display is activated by a simple press of a button and remains visible for 15 seconds.

The Vision 250 uses the Vinten TF (Thin Film) damping system to provide consistent drag and constant performance in demanding conditions from -40 to 140°F. The TF system offers total control for precise movement and excellent camera control during the critical slow startup of your shot, providing seamless transition into whip pan and instant recovery to the original drag setting at the finish of the movement.

Calibrated with variable adjustment and a single-turn rotation from fully on to off, the drag knobs are backlit and adjusted accordingly (depending on the lighting conditions) by a light sensor built into the digital readout.

The interlock device is positive-latching and thus overrides the tilt brake to ensure that any load doesn't move in its fixed position. The tilt brake therefore doesn't wear out prematurely.

Unique design features allow fast setup, a must if you are continuously on the move. The leveling bowl has a double-threaded screw shank which allows the bowl lock to be tightened and released quickly. This is handy when you are constantly adjusting the bowl to level the camera (especially on uneven terrain).

Adjustable camera mounting plate with unique rubber grip strips holds the camera rock steady.

Up to 72.8 lb load capacity.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it come with a case?

A: The Benro Tripster Travel Tripod (1 Series, Black, Carbon Fiber) comes with a carrying bag.

Q: 2. The specs state that the center column is "removable". Is it also reversible? Thanks!

A: We are not aware of the center column being reversible.

Q: 3. Does this come with removable foot spikes?

A: Interesting split in the answers. Mine came with spikes that can replace the rubber feet, which are easy to screw off. B&H should check with the manufacturer to see what is currently supplied with this model.

Q: 4. Which head would you recommend if shooting macro with D850 and 105 macro lens?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with Full-Size Screw-Knob Clamp, B&H # REBH40PROII, would be a good tripod head for your usage needs. However, I personally like the Sirui K-20x Ball Head, B&H # SISUK20X, and the Really Right Stuff Macro Focusing Rail, B&H # REB150B, or the Sunwayfoto Macro Focusing Rail with Screw-Knob Clamp, B&H # SUMFR150S, would be a good additional accessory to allow more precise positioning when shooting macro photography.

Q: 5. What is the closed height? Benro's site shows this model is 20inch closes, but specs on BH shows 15inch.

A: The box it comes in is about 17", so the tripod can't be larger than that. The tripod is 15.7".

Q: 6. Are the ball head components metal or plastic?

A: The Ball Head included with the Benro Tripster Travel Tripod (1 Series, Black, Aluminum) is made of mostly metal with some plastic and rubber parts.

Q: 7. Would this tripod securely hold a d810 with a 24-70 f2.8?

A: Yes, it has a load capacity of 26lbs, although shooting vertically would be a bit of a trickier proposition. I don't think it would balance well, in which case an L bracket would be ideal.

Q: 8. Will this tripod hold a Nikon D800 with a 70-200 lens attached?

A: Yes, but it will be borderline stable, I would recommend a tripod with a higher load capacity, like the Mefoto Roadtrip or Globetrotter.

Q: 9. The specs say there is no friction control, however, the photos show a friction control. Which is it?

A: The specs are incorrect, this head does have a friction knob.

Q: 10. How wide is the platform that accepts the base of the tripod head?

A: The part that would accept a head is 75mm in diameter.
