Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this surface compare with the now discontinued Gold Fibre Silk?

A: Its essentially just an updated version.

Q: 2. Which icc file to print this paper? It is not in Ilford web.

A: What printer do you use? I just checked, and it is available on Ilford's website here ( https://ilford.com/printer-profiles-paper-settings) for a variety of the printers specified. For example, the previous answer's P800, Choose "Galerie", "Epson", "Surecolor P800", scroll down, Smooth Pearl (IGPSPP12_EPSC800_EPGn.icc). If your printer is not listed, Ilford states to use a generic setting here: https://bit.ly/3cM2RHH

Q: 3. what is the core size of the roll? 2" or 3"?

A: It is not specified by Ilford. Your printer will also need to be able to handle 310 gsm weight and 12 mil Thickness.

Q: 4. Can someone who has printed extensively on Gold Fibre Silk describe any differences between that and this new Gold Fibre Gloss paper other than the heavier weight? Is paper base around the same level of white? Is the surface any different looking/feeling?

A: Both papers are about the same level of white. The only difference is the thickness.

Q: 5. Is the paper acid fast paper?

A: Ilford Galerie Prestige Smooth Gloss Paper is not a "fine art" paper so it is not acid free.

Q: 6. what's the best photo paper for fine art printing? Looking for soft blacks

A: The Legacy Platine will give you deep blacks and an excellent tonal range in the shadows and soft smooth transitions..

Q: 7. Hi, what media type should i use with an epson p600 printer?. the icc profile says eam media type, but i dont know what it means. The ilford website did not answer my question, this is why i am asking here. Thanks.

A: EAM stands for Epson Archival Matte. This is the correct media type choice for this printer. To download the ICC profile for the Ilford GALERIE Prestige Textured Cotton Rag Paper, go to this link: http://bit.ly/1RPJYVb

Q: 8. Hello , What is this material core size ?

A: This has a 3 inch core.

Q: 9. Will the Canon G7020 be able to handle this papers thickness of 13mils?

A: No, the Canon PIXMA G7020 Wireless MegaTank All-in-One Printer is only rated up to 200 gsm, and the Ilford GALERIE Heavyweight Duo Matt Paper (8.5 x 11", 50 Sheets) is 310 gsm. So regardless of thickness, the weight itself won't work.

Q: 10. How many pounds is this paper? Do you think it will go through the Canon Pixma Pro9000 mark ii?

A: This paper is 13mil or 310 gsm. It is within the thickness tolerance for the p9000 II.

Worked well for my college photography class! Paper eventually loses it pictures after time but that is common with this kind of paper. Makes good prints, just dont expose it to ANY light whatsoever.

I'm using the paper with a canon ipf5000 and the prints looks beautiful. They have a very traditional lustre photos paper type feel.

i bought this paper because it offered one of the best options in the market for large format prints. its a 310 gsm paper, its heavy enough to be manipulated without any problem considering large pieces of printed paper, thats what i was looking for initially. tone gradation its perfect for me. black in settle down very good in this paper. its surface is smooth and slightly textured, though not as present as in other papers by canson, innova or hanemhulle..... the price is just right for this product.... i like rc paper because i want to keep my framing option open as in the case i want to glue the paper to aluminum support or metacrilate plates, RC paper is the best option in this case..... Ilford in my opinion has better offers than epson paper, besides its a much more well reputed manufacturer
