Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I use and 3228w bogan manfritto tripod, is this compatible with this tripod? Thanks

A: The side arm extension fits on my Bogan tripod. At first I thought it would be a problem because there is a large hole for an oversized stud to mount on the tripod. The center mount is adaptable to large or small studs. You can mount it on almost any tripod. The same is true on the extended arms. A small or large stud comes with the unit to again mount almost anything on the arms. What does not come with the unit is a counterweight to go on the opposite arm. You can move the counterweight anywhere on the arm to help keep the center of gravity centered at the top of the tripod.

Q: 2. How many 2.5 grip heads are included?

A: One

Q: 3. Can this be used with Manfrotto 141RC and Nikon D5000?

A: Yes, the Manfrotto 131D Side Arm - for Tripods (Chrome) may be used with your listed equipment.

Q: 4. Is this shorter Impact column avail separately or do u have to but with the base arm & head?

A: Unfortunately the 5.9' chrome riser that comes with the Impact Turtle Base C-Stand & 20 Grip Arm Kit - is not sold separately at this time.

Q: 5. Can the slider leg move enough to straddle a flight of one or two steps?

A: The leg is about 19 inches long. So, if the two steps are not any deeper then about 8 inches each it should work.

Q: 6. what tripod would work well with this?

A: I use this with a Manfrotto 055XDB tripod with a Manfrotto 498 ball head. I suggest a fairly sturdy tripod since extending the sidearm with a camera will put more imbalance than you might think. I also suggest a tripod whose legs can be adjusted for a wider stance as needed (that is, the legs can open wider than just one position). This is especially needed for shorter setups such as shooting down at something close to the ground where the leg length is not fully extended. The wider leg stance allows for more extension. Hanging a counter weight on the end of the arm that doesn't hold your camera would also work (keeping the center of gravity over the center of the tripod), but this adds overall load the tripod must bear.

Q: 7. How long is the boom arm?

A: Mine measures 42 inches.

Q: 8. Doesn't work on backdrop cross bar?

A: The stud on this Impact C-stand is 5/8", which can fit any cross bar with a 5/8" receiver on the end.

Q: 9. How many grip knuckles are included?

A: Just the one (as pictured.) There is also a knuckle fixed to an arm but only one that can be separated.

Q: 10. What is the 40 about? I want to make sure it can fit on my Tenba bag as my current impact one is too long after removing the legs.Tenba T488 TriPak

A: The minimum length (height) of this c-stand is 54 , and the legs are not removable, making it wider than your bag will allow. The main center section is close to 40 perhaps that is what they are referring to, but its overall length would be 54 and it's width, due to the legs would be 21 . You won't lug this around in a bag. I had hoped I could too, but after having it, considering its incredibly heavy duty build quality, I really don't mind carrying it separate. In fact, I lay it along the top outside of my bag and then lift the bag and the c-stand up by the bag handles. It works out just fine.
