Combining a true condenser capsule, continuously variable polar pattern control, and ultralow-noise circuitry, the Rode NT2000 large-diaphragm studio microphone offers pro-level sonic performance along with extremely versatile pickup responses, making it ideal for capturing all sorts of voice and instrument sources, and for experimenting with the balance of direct and room sound. Plus, it includes a vibration-inhibiting shockmount and a hard shell carry case, so it is truly studio- and travel-ready.

With low noise being a top priority of the NT2000, its 1" gold-sputtered capsule is internally shock-mounted to further isolate it from handling and vibration noise. Enhancing its professional character are the onboard pad (variable from 0 to -10 dB) and high-pass filter (variable from 20 to 150 Hz) settings, which help avoid distortion and bass buildup. Since it can run on 24 or 48 VDC phantom power, the NT2000 can be used with a variety of professional and entry-level XLR mic preamps.

This true condenser (externally biased) features a 1" gold-sputtered, dual-diaphragm capsule that provides a broad frequency response, wide dynamic range, and excellent signal-to-noise ratio.

The NT2000's polar pattern is continuously variable from omnidirectional to cardioid to figure-8. As a result, the NT2000 offers excellent versatility for single-source close miking, dual-source pickup, room ambience capture, and more.

The pad, which reduces the input level to the microphone's in-built preamp, can be continuously adjusted from 0 to -10 dB. This is very useful when recording loud sound sources (such as close miking of drums or amplifiers) to avoid overloading the microphone's preamplifier.

Choose any setting between 20 and 150 Hz to cut the level of the selected frequency

and below by 3 dB. This control is useful for selecting the cut-off point for potentially offending low frequencies such as traffic noise and floor vibrations. It can also be used on vocals to achieve a limited response for a "different" sound.

The transformerless JFET output electronics result in an ultralow-noise output (just 7 dBA) while maintaining maximum signal gain.

The NT2000 operates reliably on 24 or 48 VDC phantom power, which can be supplied via most XLR-connected mic preamps, mixer channels, or audio interfaces.

The NT2000's accessory package includes a studio-grade shockmount that reduces stand-borne vibration and a hard shell carry case.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a 3.5mm to 3-Pin XLR cable for XLR based systems such as mixers, camcorders, etc.?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 2. With the update firmware 2.0, can you now use regular apple USB-C to Lightning cable to connect the mic to an ipod touch (6th generation)?

A: Thanks to firmware version 2.0, the VideoMic NTG is now MFi-certified for use with Lightning-equipped Apple iOS mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod) when paired with the Rode SC15 USB Type-C to Lightning accessory cable (available separately). Rode SC15 Lightning USB Type-C to Lightning Accessory Cable (11.8") B&H # ROSC15: https://bhpho.to/3aELUyX USB Type-C to Lightning Cable For Rode VideoMic NTG For MFi-Certified USB Microphones 11.8" Cable Length Junction Box for Cable Management Shielded Cable

Q: 3. In USB mode, what do you hear through the mic's 3.5 mm jack? A) Computer playback only. B) Computer playback + mic monitoring with round-trip latency (VideoMic NTG to PC/Mac to VideoMic NTG). C) Computer playback audio + mic monitoring with direct zero latency. D) Direct, zero-latency mic monitoring only.

A: As per Rode, if you are using the VideomicNTG as your selected output source, then you will be monitoring the mic signal and playback audio being processed from the DAW or program. Answer B.

Q: 4. which is better for mukbang or asmr recording, VideoMic NTG or VideoMic Pro+?

A: It really depends on what the mic will be connecting to. When used with a camera, the NTG would be operating as an analog mic and functioning much like the VideoMic Pro+, producing comparable high-quality audio with similar features. The main difference for the NTG is the built in interface which enables you to connect it directly to a computer via the USB cable to operate as a digital mic. The VideoMic Pro+ can also be connected to a computer, but a separate USB interface is required. Both are excellent options for recording, podcasting or livestreaming, so you can't wrong with either mic.

Q: 5. can this mic work with phantom power instead of the internal battery?

A: No

Q: 6. Will the sound be better if I connect this to an audio interface instead of directly to the computer via USB?

A: It would be best to connect directly to your computer via USB, unless you need to use more than one mic at a time.

Q: 7. Any advice for putting the windjammer over the blimp? I have tried several times and it does not seem to stretch far enough.

A: The components included with the Rycote Super-Blimp NTG5 Windshield Kit for Rode NTG5 Microphone( BH # RYSBBTG5WK) are custom fitted for compatibility. You may want take advantage of our free Video Chat service: https://bhpho.to/3xqSqrE

Q: 8. Will this work with MKH 416..

A: The length of the Rycote Super-Blimp NTG5 Windshield Kit for Rode NTG5 Microphone may be a bit too short to support and house the Sennheiser MKH 416-P48U3 Moisture-Resistant Shotgun Microphone. A more compatible version for use with the 416 would be the Rycote Super-Blimp Kit for Rode NTG & Shotgun Mics (11" Length, 0.7-0.9" Diameter)(BH #RYWKNTG): https://bhpho.to/3zVeRof

Q: 9. Can this record the same level to both left and right tracks?

A: This is a mono microphone so it wil record both left anf right channels equally.

Q: 10. Is the included RF cable shielded? Some of the other Rycote Super-Shield systems list that the XLR cable is, but this one doesn't say.

A: Although Rycote does not divulge this level of specification for the cables used in the Rycote Super-Blimp NTG5 Windshield Kit for Rode NTG5 Microphone, most of their cable sourcing comes from Mogami and should most likely be well shielded.
