Chimera Daylite Plus 1 Softbox - Small

Chimera Daylite Plus 1 Softbox - Small

$1,928.64 $2,642.24

The Small Daylight Plus 1 is designed for use with a Fresnel HMI or Hotlight up to 4,000 Watts and diameters from 9" to 21.5 inches. It is possible, but not convenient or economical, to use this box with a studio strobe.

The extra depth of the Daylight (it's about 30% deeper than the Video Pro Plus) allows the fresnel beam to spread out and cover the front face more evenly. This extra depth, combined with a fabric that is more heat resistant, makes the box safe when used with a 4,000 Watt light.

The "Plus 1" designation means the front face of the softbox is removable. Chimera makes different strengths of diffusion material for front face applications. This softbox comes with a one stop diffusion cloth only. 1/2 and 1/4 grid cloths are available separately. Substituting a half or quarter difusion or taking off the interior baffle would result in even more contrast, slightly more light transmission, and less softening of the light.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How long is this when broken down? I'm trying to find a softbox that is as big as possible but not longer than 29 when broken down. Thanks!

A: The stays are 33 inches long. The box itself folds down smaller, 9 X 24 .

Q: 2. Will the Norman speed ring work?

A: Hi Russell, A Norman Speedring will work on the Impact Luxbanx Medium Strip Softbox.

Q: 3. Does this softbox work with the Dracast BoltRay LED600 Plus Bi-Color LED Light?

A: As long as you get the correct fitting adapter I dont see why it wouldnt. The only other issue is whether or not its rates for hot lights.

Q: 4. Its possible to use with profoto hmi 800?

A: Hi what ever light system you use .... you need to make sure that there is a brace or bracket that can keep it on the light ring . It is very front heavy I tend to put a small pic stand on the side with a clamp to keep it from tipping forward .There is a spring bracket available....I dont have a name handy

Q: 5. Will this softbox work with the Westcott Strobelite Monolight?

A: Yes, that will work with the Westcott Strobelite Monolight. You just need the correct speedring. It is Impact Speed Ring for Impact, Bowens S, Westcott B&H # IMSRIMP MFR # SR-IMP.

Q: 6. When can one use this 9x 12 as opposed to the 12 x 36 luxbanx strip softbox?

A: A smaller 9 x 36" strip would be best as a hair light or a small rim light off to the side. Also, someone who needs to fit a strip box in a smaller shooting area might choose that size.

Q: 7. I use the Phottix Mitros speedlights. What accessories would I need to attach them to this strip box?

A: You can use the Impact SR-SHOE-D Speed Ring for Dual Shoe Mount Flashes B&H # IMSRSHOED which can hold up to two Phottix Mitros flashes and will attach to this softbox. Please see the image.

Q: 8. Does this softbox come with the grid?

A: No

Q: 9. will this fit elinchrom speed rings?

A: While the Elinchrom speed rings are not compatible with the Impact Luxbanx Duo Small Octagonal Softbox (36 ), as the rods of the Elinchrom octangonal softboxes are larger than most universal softbox rods, the Impact Speed Ring for Elinchrom, Impact EX, B&H # IMSRELI, would work with the softbox, and would be compatible with Elinchrom studio strobes.

Q: 10. Will this work with a speedlight?

A: Sure, just get the right speedring. However, speedlights arent that powerful, but as long as you're using it indoors, or somewhere with little ambient, it should be fine. Look up the power of your speedlight. Usually, these softboxes are used with strobes with at least 250W*s. Speedlights are like 100W*s, if that... Probably more like 60 or so W*s.
