The Pelican 1400 Case with Foam (Black) is an unbreakable, watertight, airtight, dustproof, chemical-resistant and corrosion-proof hard case used to carry any kind of equipment that needs to be protected from the elements. It is made of Ultra-High Impact structural copolymer that makes it extremely strong and durable. It has a 0.25" (6.4mm) neoprene o-ring, and easy-open double throw latches that seal perfectly. It includes an automatic pressure equalization valve for quick equalization after changes in atmospheric pressure. It is carried by a folding molded handle.

A: Unfortunately even the manufacturer says its just watertight. I would have to agree with them because of the Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve. Now you can try Pelican's line of cases called Storm cases. These are waterproof and are used by the military but I don't know if there is any difference in prices for that benefit. Hope that helps. A: This case would be extremely uncomfortable to have on your back. When loaded it's very heavy and there's no padding on the exterior. You should look at more of a backpack case if you want to have it on your shoulder.

A: Yes that is correct. The color is the only difference. This is a pretty common inquiry. Pelican does have some price variations between colors, and that is literally the only difference.

A: It will be a little tight since the backpack is about 1.5 cm highers than the pelican but I think it's possible (I haven't tested though).
