A: Unfortunately, there is no conversion to convert watt-seconds to guide numbers. A watt-second is a measurement of energy, measuring how much power (watts) is delivered in one second. A guide number is simply a tool to allow you to calculate the working exposure you may use from a flash with a set reflector degree/beam angle when the flash is on-axis with your subject. The issue is the guide number can vary widely from the same flash head if you use a different reflector size or if the flash has a zoom head. The exact same flash with a zoom head set to a telephoto zoom setting will have a much higher guide number than the exact same flash with the zoom head set to a wide angle setting.
