I bought this camera last month because I make films, and I had heard from colleagues that this brand was a good choice. When I got the camera and tested it out with some practice photos and video, everything worked great. It took me a while to figure out how to do manual exposure, but after consulting the actually very informative manual, I was able to do it. The image quality of the pictures I took was fantastic, with little to no grain whatsoever. The same was true of the video. This was until I started using some higher ISO values, at which point some degradation of quality occurred. Generally I film with lights, so this is not an issue. Outdoor photography and video is superb. All in all, I have little to no complaints with this product and am looking forward to using this camera in the future.

If you're looking for an excellent all-purpose DSLR the Canon Rebel T4i and close cousin T5i are your best choices. I'm an intermediate hobbyist and find this camera easy to understand and use. It's DIGIC 5 processor produces superior images to the 50D/60D series, and it's ISO handling and simplified autofocus system are more reliable than Canon's upscale 7D. The touch screen speeds up decision-making in those instances where you have to quickly tweak your settings, and its lighter-weight body is a dream to carry and operate all day long. Imagine: no more camera shake! The T4i and T5i (both shoot 5fps) are nearly identical cameras: Canon had a problem recall with the grips on some of the early T4i causing allergic reactions (if you have one, you can enter your serial number in their website to determine if your camera is among those affected), so it quickly replaced the T4i with the T5i. The unaffected T4i's are a terrific buy if you can find one. The HD video technology pairs well with Canon's latest STM lens. Everyone has come to understand that DSLR video was a production afterthought. Because lenses don't constantly autofocus, most DSLRs are pretty useless for most video, however, this one does pretty well. PROS: high quality images, commands easy to navigate, light weight, built-in 'cheater' settings for point and shoot users, decent high ISO, full range of advance features CONS: plastic body doesn't feel like metal (but this makes the darn camera very light), only 9 points on its autofocus (though novice users are going to find this a plus) WHO SHOULD BUY THIS: anyone one wanting an excellent entry-level DSLR with HD video with room to grow, anyone wanting a not-too-expensive second body

I have used this camera for weddings, events and landscape photography. I enjoy the flexibility of either manual or the very responsive automatic functions. As I have had the camera for only a couple of weeks, I look forward to getting more familiar the the many options. So far, it has met and exceeded my expectations.

First time buyer of a DSLR cam & I must say its amazing & soo easy to use. Totally worth the cost! It exceeded my expectations! Amazing photos! No complaints! I'm a happy camper! ;)

For those who wants to learn to shoot is the ideal camera! You can use the automatic mode and when you are mastering the art of photography nothing prevent you from being able to make great photographs.

90 percent of my photos are of birds using Cannon 100-400 mm lens. Works great with this cammera. I do turn of the 9 AF point focus and go to single AF point. This works great on birds so you don't focus on a leaf or branch in front of the bird. I leave the P (program) mode set like this so I can easily go back to auto for other types of photography. I am experimenting with high ASA shots of stars at night. This camera can really shoot very high ASA without loosing image quality. It took me a while to use the video. I purchased this for still shots. but once I used the video I have been very impressed. The HD video is really good and looks good straight off the camera with out any editing. Also I love the HDMI output. I purchased the mini HDMI cable and can view on the large screen TV straight from the camera and use this very often. The pictures are better quality and truer color than my old 40D. You don't have to do as much editing and many photos I can hardly improve. One con is Cannon changed the battery style. I can not use my old 40D batteries and the new ones do not last as long.

Photo quality is outstanding. It is fast, precise and great for anyone who wants to get professional like photos, even for beginers.

I just started getting into photography and I am happy I purchased this camera. For the money it does a great job.
