Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How good is this for both astrophotography and landscape photography?

A: The Samyang 12mm f/2.0 AF Compact Ultra-Wide Angle Lens for Sony E-Mount (B&H# SA1220SE) stands alone in its price range for a low cost ultrawide APS-C AF lens. Not only is it a speedy lens at f/2.0, but the combination of its two extra-low dispersion elements, one aspherical element, and one hybrid-aspherical element in combination with your setting the aperture to f/2.8 or higher do a tremendous job to virtually eliminate the many types of distortion you'd normally expect in this type of lens. Those abilities make it great for astrophotography and outstanding for shooting landscapes.

Q: 2. Will this be branded as a Rokinon when delivered to the U.S.?

A: No. We carry both Samyang and Rokinon lenses. Ones sold as Samyang will carry their branding and be packaged as Samyang.

Q: 3. Does B&H cover the warranty or do I need to speak directly to Rokinon regarding my lens' inability to focus?

A: B&H only offers a 30-Day Return Policy on the lenses we carry. Rokinon offers a Limited 1-Year Worldwide Warranty on their lenses. For warranty repair needs beyond the 30-Day Return Policy, you would have to contact Rokinon directly for warranty repair assistance. B&H does not have a service & repair center, and we do not service or repair camera equipment or accessories.a href= http://www.rokinon.com/contact target= _blank http://www.rokinon.com/contact/a

Q: 4. What is the thread size for filters?

A: 77mm

Q: 5. I see there is an aperture ring on this lens. Must you use it to control aperture or can an Olympus OMD EM10 Mark II control the aperture via the body control dials when shooting in A mode?

A: No unfortunately you cannot use any of the OMD controls. it's a fully manual lens, so focus and aperture rings are the only way to work the lens

Q: 6. Can one remove the hood without cutting it off? on cheaper fisheye, there are 3 screws under front ring with letters, maybe its the same here. And how can i make focus/ap. rings go tihghter?

A: You cannot remove the hood on this lens.

Q: 7. Does this lens have image stabilization?

A: No, The Meike Meike 12mm T2.2 Manual Focus Wide Angle Cinema Lens does not have built in optical lens stabilization.

Q: 8. What is the image circle of this and the 12mm lens?

A: They cover an MFT sized sensor.

Q: 9. Is there any way I can use Tilta Mirage matte box with this lens? The petal hood is built-in it cannot be removed.

A: The Rokinon 14mm T3.1 DSX Ultra Wide-Angle Cine Lens (EF Mount) will not be compatible in any way. I suggest using a mattebox with a sock, like the Camtree Camshade Video Matte Box.

Q: 10. is there a difference with the same model but ROKINON? I have a ZVE-10 and I read that it is not compatible. which is terrible. anyone know more about it?

A: Rokinon and Samyang are part of the same company. However, we have not heard of any issues when using this lens or its Rokinon counterpart on the Sony ZV-E10.
