The Tiffen 6 x 6" 2 Tobacco Hard-Edge Graduated Filter helps to specifically add a warm, brownish-yellow coloration to skies and other bright areas of an image while allowing a portion of the image to remain neutrally colored. The filter's coloring is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a hard-edged transition between the density and clear areas. The 2 color density provides less tobacco coloration than the 3 density, but more than the 1 density filter.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. It measures 6 x 6" / 152.4 x 152.4mm.

Provides a warm brownish-yellow coloring to select areas of the image.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens work on my Nikon D800? Although the lens is configured for APS-C sensors, and not for full frame sensors, I note from some reader comments that the lens has been used successfully on the D800.

A: You can use this lens on a full frame camera like the D800, however, you will be able to see the crop factor within your frame and there will be vignette. There is an aps-c mode that you can also use on the D800 to avoid vignette.

Q: 2. will this fit my canon EOS 50D?

A: It should because it fits on my EOS 40D.

Q: 3. Is it compatible with full frame camera - canon 6d?

A: I don't think it is compatible w 6d. the info says for APS-C cameras, and the rear probably protrudes into the sensor area like Canon EF-S lenses do. Tamron makes a 28-300 lens for full-frame bodies.

Q: 4. Is the Tamron 16-300 mm lens compatible with the TAP-in console?

A: Unfortunately, this lens cannot be used with the TAP-In Console.

Q: 5. Is the warranty a USA warranty?

A: Yes, Tamron's limited 6 year warranty is USA only.

Q: 6. Would this be a good replacement for a canon 18-200 on a 7D? Is image quality worst/similar/better? same thing for AF?

A: I liked the Tamron, but it was not sharp enough at the long end. I went back to the 18-200 on my 7Dmii and ultimately bought the Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM that turned out to be better at 300mm. I wish Canon would offer an 18-300mm, don't you? I rented the new 100-400mm and it was by far the best, really really good, but sadly, too heavy for me. I hope this helps.

Q: 7. Can this lens be used for video with a Canon C100? I'm concerned about two things: 1) Will the lack of image stabilization make hand-held work impossible due to shake? And 2) Another commenter mentioned a very thin focus ring making quick manual focusing a challenge. Thoughts?

A: The lens does have stabilization. While I am unfamiliar with the Canon C100, it works exceedingly well on The Canon 70D, 7D, and 7D Mark II. All of the knurled front of the lens is the focus ring. With the each of the Canon cameras mentioned, extremely fast focus is attained and maintained. With the touch screen on 70D it is possible during a basketball game to touch the screen, have it focus on one person and stay focused while moving.

Q: 8. Does this camera have metal or plastic treads?

A: I would say that it looks more like rubber to me. The lens is heavy, if you are looking for a versatile lens I recommend it

Q: 9. I currently have a Canon EF-S 18-135mm (f/3.5-5.6) IS STM lens and a Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM lens that I use on my 70D. Q1) Is this Tamron 16-300mm lens as sharp as my 18-135mm lens? If not, where would the difference be most noticeable?Q2) Since the Tamron 16-300mm is designed for APS-C cameras and my EF 70-300 is designed for full-frame cameras, will I get clearer images from the Tamron throughout the 70-300mm range? If not, where would the difference be most noticeable?

A: I have the same camera and lenses you have and I did buy the Tamron 16-300mm too - more for the convenience of traveling with one lens. While I am not super knowledgable (still learning!!), what I did notice is that when I took pictures with my Canon 70-300mm at the 300mm range, then took the exact picture in the exact spot with the Tamron lens, the picture taken with the Tamron lens is NOT as close. There is definitely a difference. As far as clarity, I do not see a differnce, but again, I'm not super knowledgable in being able to pick out the differences. I've had a Tamron lens in the past with a different camera and was very satisfied with the quality as well as the customer service and support when I encountered an issue. I'm keeping all three lenses - absolutely love the convenience of the 16-300mm range on the Tamron when wanting to travel light, but I still fall back to my Canon 18-135mm when taking pictures of the grandkids, and will continue to fall back to my Canon 70-300mm when I know I'm doing longer range shots only.

Q: 10. will this fit my canon 600 d ?

A: Yes. The 600D (Rebel T3i) is compatible with all Canon mount lenses.
