Sure it was expensive, but the savings on batteries and frustration levels have more than paid for the charger several times over. You can't go wrong with a charger that charges each battery individually and increases battery life with three charging modes.

As such, these Eneloops would be ideal for many but not all outdoor installations of solar lights as that will depend on the temperature range in your area. They should be kept dry at all times, however.
