The Tiffen 105mm Coarse Thread 3 Tangerine Solid Color Filter adds a warm, pale orange coloration across the entire image and helps to subdue cool casts. The solid color design makes this filter well-suited to pairing with other filters for further control over the appearance of imagery. The 3 color density provides more tangerine coloration than the 2 density filter.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens compatible with the Nikon D700 camera? Thanks

A: Definitely as D700 is a FX, full frame; it's also a backup to professional camera D3, D4, or D5 which uses this lens.

Q: 2. Will this lens be sold with the Canon EOS RP camera as a kit?

A: Unfortunately we are not told of upcoming kits. The newsletter is a good way to see the breaking news of new items and kits.

Q: 3. How this lans compare to the 85 1.4 ? Thanks

A: Both are very good lenses, it is more a matter of personal preference. Sharp, bright, fast, what's not to like about either one? Other than the focal length difference, not much to differentiate the two. If you have the 85, don't get the 105. If you are getting a new lens in this class, get the 105. One could be happy with either one.

Q: 4. Any comparison between Nikon 105mm F/1.4 vs Nikon 85mm f/18G -- which one is better as a portrait lens?

A: Both the AF-S 85mm f/1.8G and this AF-S 105mm f/1.4E ED are very sharp. With the 105mm, you would get the slightly longer focal length and 2/3 of a stop brighter maximum aperture. While those two factors can be helpful, this lens would have the electromagnetic diaphragm which is most compatible with the newer Nikon bodies.

Q: 5. I have the old 105. This one is not a macro I take it...?

A: No, it is not a macro. I'm sure you could convert it to one with extension tubes, but haven't tried that.

Q: 6. I have read the specs on this and it is not clear what cameras are not compatible with the electromagnetic component. Is a D780 compatible to this lens?

A: Yes, the Nikon D780 is compatible with the E-type lenses.

Q: 7. How does this lens compare to the Nikon AF DC-Nikkor 105 mm F/2D Lens?

A: At the same apertures, it performs just very slightly better than the DC, but almost the same. If images are produced by skilled shooters, you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference in a blind test at the same apertures. Of course the new lens goes to f/1.4 where the depth of field effect is dramatic, which is the main selling point. The new lens has slightly more distortion but less flare and CA owing to better coatings. The new lens does not have a DC control ring to manipulate bokeh. The new lens does not have an aperture ring, unlike the DC-Nikkor, so it is practically worthless for classic Nikon SLRs. The new lens is light and plasticky feeling, unlike the older solid metal and glass crinkle-coated DC-Nikkor. The new lens has a AF-S in-lens motor, which will burn out after some years and will render it a manual focus lens when Nikon decides to stop making replacement motors, as they have already done for other top-of-the-line AF-S lenses...whereas the 105/2DC with screwdriver AF will still be working just fine a hundred years from now.

Q: 8. Does the replace the Nikon 135mm?

A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens is a similar focal length to the Nikon 135mm lens; it doesn't replace it, it's just a different focal length.

Q: 9. Where was this product made? Do you know what the country of origin is?

A: Mine was made in Japan. Excellent lens!

Q: 10. Can this lens be used with a NIKON D90 , and use all the F stops?. Electronic focus?

A: per NikonUSAThe lens incorporates an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism. The following cameras are compatible with this lens:D5, D4 series, D3 series, Df, D810, D810A, D800 series, D750, D700, D610, D600, D500, D300 series, D7200, D7100, D7000, D5500, D5300, D5200, D5100, D5000, D3300, D3200, D3100, Nikon 1 J1, J2, J3, J4 with FT-1, Nikon 1 V1, V2, V3 with FT-1, Nikon 1 S1, S2 with FT-1
