The Countryman E6i Omnidirectional Microphone is a miniature earset microphone for virtually invisible operation in stage performances, trade shows, houses-of-worship, auctions, lectures and much more.

The omnidirectional version is most common in applications where feedback issues are not very likely. The microphone can be worn without a windscreen as the omnidirectional capsule provides excellent wind noise rejection.

The E6i is set apart from the original E6 with its softer flexible boom and silicon ear-pads. The flexible boom provides ease of boom adjustability to accommodate multi-user applications.

A wide variety of colors and connections are available for use with various wireless transmitters. This version is black and features a 4-pin Lemo connector for Telex transmitters.

A miniature omnidirectional capsule is mounted to a low-profile, flexible frame with silicon ear pads. This lightweight, unobtrusive design is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin.

The included 1mm Diameter Cable detaches from the actual headset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy, as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate various wireless transmitters.

The omnidirectional polar pattern is most effective in minimizing wind noise, plosives (popping) and handling noise. The flexible boom provides a custom fit for multiple users and close microphone positioning while minimizing off-axis noise. The E6i is also available in a cardioid version for maximum off-axis noise rejection in environments with high feedback and noise.

This E6i sensitivity response is optimized to accurately capture general speech without noise and distortion.

Q: 1. The female pins in the XM-55 are too small for the XLR connectors. It's so tight that I'm afraid that I'll pull the thing apart just to change the battery. Are others having this problem?

A: I use this mic and the XLR connection is snug but not too tight that I fear of pulling it apart. I've plugged and unplugged this mic on several occations.

Q: 2. Can i use this mic on a Black magic cinema camera?

A: Using an XLR to 1/4 cable the XM-55 Shotgun Mic will be compatible with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera.

Q: 3. Just opened my new XM-55, but can't get it to work- is there a power indicator light anywhere on the mic? Connecting to multiple cameras gets no audio, no indication of power at all- thoughts?

A: It has a red LED just in front of the power switch. It's dim, but it works on mine. By the way... hate to state the obvious but it doesn't get power from the camera. You have to feed it batteries.

Q: 4. Are there two types of Xm - 55 mics? Because I see some with a low cut filter and others with the red light... Are they the same mic?

A: The product we are offering is the genuine article from Vidpro which includes the red operating LED and the sensitivity switch.

Q: 5. I want to use a rode boomple but it doesnt say wether the shockmount it is 3/8 or not, what can the shockmount take?

A: All the mounts included in this package are 5/8 however a 5/8 to 3/8 thread adapter is included in the kit.

Q: 9. I tested this mic at home a few days ago and all was great, but then I recorded a very important concert with it yesterday, everything was set up perfectly, and now all I am hearing in playback on my computer after uploading the videos is static. No recorded audio whatsoever. It is absolutely imperative that I get this audio. Please help me. Is there any way to retrieve the audio??

A: this mic becausethe frequency response is better for interviews

Q: 10. Would I be better off using the tascam Dr 40 on a shockmount or is this mic better for short films and event recording

A: The Vidpro XM-55 is best suited for capturing dialogue. The Tascam Dr-40 features a stereo mic, so is better for picking up bigger areas and ambient audio. Either items would work for you, based on your specific needs.
