Its variable contrast designation permits working with multigrade filters for adjusting contrast during printing, to suit a range of negative densities, and the paper supports a rich halftone scale with bright whites and deep blacks. The paper also features a silver chlorobromide emulsion, which provides a neutral to medium-warm tone depending on processing techniques, and the paper is receptive to both direct and indirect toning methods.

Q: 1. For the life of me I can't get the lens hood to attach. It's like the lens hood marked H-HS043 is too small. Am I doing something wrong?

A: The lens has a decorative ring that must be removed to attach the lens hood. Hold the lens so that you see 42.5 with the front of the lens on top. You will see two white marks aligned with the 42.5. One of those marks is on the lens itself; the top mark belongs to the decorative ring. You must grasp the ring quite firmly to remove it; turn it counter-clockwise and remove it. Now you can attach the lens hood. Note that the decorative ring will not be properly attached until the two white marks are aligned. The lens hood itself does not have a corresponding white mark, although it should. Both the decorative ring and the lens hood have a definite click when properly attached.

Q: 2. Does this lens come with a hood? If not what is a high quality one I can purchase?

A: Yes; as indicated under the In The Box section on our website, Panasonic includes a lens hood with the lens purchase. The following items are listed on our website under the In The Box tab as included with the Panasonic LUMIX G 42.5mm f/1.7 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens:In the BoxPanasonic LUMIX G 42.5mm f/1.7 ASPH. Q: 3. Is the focus ring smoooth at all distances? Or is there a tightness when focusing from 10 to a foot distance?

A: On mine, the focus ring is pretty even throughout its travel. I just tested it to be sure, and I would say that there is maybe 10-20% greater resistance, gradually as you approach the minimum distance, but nothing I would characterize as tightness , just a normal variation. I honestly wouldn't have noticed if I didn't test it in response to your question. I hope that helps.

Q: 4. how many degrees does the focus ring approx. rotate, 135, 180, 225 ?

A: The focus ring on the Voigtlander Nokton 42.5mm f/0.95 Micro Four Thirds Lens rotates approx 270 degrees.

Q: 5. Is the focus ring smoooth at all distances? Or is there a tightness when focusing from 10 to a foot distance?

A: smooth at all distances.

Q: 6. Can this lens fit on a Sony a5100 camera?

A: No. This would only be suitable for Olympus, Panasonic, and MFT-mount cine cameras.

Q: 7. Does the f0.95 aperture offer any significant low light advantage when compared to f1.2, f1.4, or f1.8?

A: The f0.95 lets in 3.6x more light compared to f1.8 !! Even compared to f1.2 the f0.95 lets in 1.6x more light. So a big difference.

Q: 8. Why isn't the silver version available in the US? I see it available in Japan via Ebay.

A: At this time, the manufacturer only distributes the black version to US retailers.

Q: 9. The Panasonic LUMIX G 42.5mm f / 1.7 is stabilized and the Power OIS is always on. Would it conflict with the stabilization of my Olympus E-M5 mII ..?

A: Thanks for the answers below, I did some research on preview, which, btw, is a GREAT resource. It confused me a bit, but seemed solution is in the ability to turn off one or the other. I do also understand, when I am able to upgrade to the Lumix GX8, which has in camera IS they are compatible....

Q: 10. Since this is a full manual lens, when you stop down the lens, does the image in the viewfinder grow darker? Does that make shooting at f 16 problematic? How is exposure control handled?

A: I haven't noticed that the image gets darker as you stop down. Maybe the EVF in the Olympus camera that I use it with compensates for the loss of light as the lens is stopped down. I haven't shot at F16. It's said that the effective depth of field in micro 4:3 cameras is the crop factor multiplied by the F-stop. The crop factor for the micros 4:3 system is two, which would make the effective depth of field at F16 similar to F32 on a full-frame camera. There might be diffraction issues with the lens beyond F11. At F8 or even F5.6 you can get clean, edge-to-edge sharpness with this lens.
