A slip on connection system allows this sunshade to slide onto the 105mm outside of the lens or lens accessory; it then tightens with a screw to provide security.

Like any sunshade, this unit provides protection from hard light and glare. This accessory works specifically with telephoto attachments from Century.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. if this is an A mount will this work with an A200?

A: Yes, the Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus lens will work with the Sony A200. However, due to the A200's older autofocusing system, AF performance will likely be limited by the camera.

Q: 2. It looks like an AC power supply does not come with the camera. Is that true? We plan to use this monitor with a permanently mounted camera that does not come with its own monitor. If it does not come with its own AC power, what product should we use to accomplish this? Thanks.

A: There is a 12v DC input on the back. So any power adaptor would work,Thank you

Q: 3. I want to know if this lens has an AE chip built-into in order to get focus confirmation as well as the use of Auto/P/A/S/M shooting modes due to the transmission of lens data to the camera? Thanks

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens for Nikon F have no electronic contacts nor an AE chip, so there would be no exposure information, EXIF data, metering, or focus confirmation information transmitted to the camera. This is a fully manual lens.

Q: 4. Does it work with focus assist on A7RII and a6500? Does it transmit data to the camera?

A: 1. Yes, it is easy to focus manually using focus assist etc on my A6000.2. No information is transmitted to my A6000.It produces lovely portraits, with a beautiful background.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with a Canon XF705, with a 58mm diameter front thread. If so/not, can I use a step up/down ring to make it compatible? Just trying to get 2X with the XF705. Thanks!

A: The converter is specifically designed to bayonet onto the Sony cameras. For guaranteed performance, we would recommend the 1.5x Canon TL-U58 https://bhpho.to/2FW0AO7

Q: 6. Is the E-mount version of this lens actually under 10cm long? I thought it was more like 12cm.

A: This lens measures approx. 2.99 x 3.89 (76 x 98.9 mm).

Q: 7. Would the electronic contacts on the mount of this lens physically interfere with anything inside the Nikon F2 film-camera?

A: Venus Optics Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens for Nikon F electronics wouldn't interfere with the Nikon F2 film camera.

Q: 8. Can I use this on the BlackMagic Design URSA 4K 10 screen?

A: Well I found the sticking parts of the unit do not allow the monitor to close properly after I installed the unit. I had to find an other way to attach it. I believe a sun protector with a band that you can remove at will would be best. I do not recommend this product.

Q: 9. If the apperture (fstop) and Tstop are controlled separately, does that mean i can be at F2.0 (f2 background blue) while at t8 (t8 light input) ?

A: Short answer, a qualified yes. This lens has beautiful bokeh, and is very easy to use on an e-mount camera. There are two separate aperture rings that produce a single final aperture. The widest final aperture occurs at f2.0 and T3.2. When you set f2.0 and ratchet the T-stop from 3.2 to 8, the final aperture does decrease continuously. The f-stops click, but the T-stops are smooth. At T8, you won't see any real change in the final aperture above about f4. At T3.2, all f stops are useful and the final aperture changes as it clicks through the f-stops. In summary, the T and f stops both allow you to control the final aperture, but it does not magically disconnect bokeh and light transmission.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with Sony a7rii?

A: Yes it is compatible. Lars D. covers the technical details well. it is a superb focal length for portraits and for isolating the subject from the background. It does take a bit of getting used to ... the effects of the two diaphragms and manual operation, but it is very worth it.

Removable legs slot into place. Head holds strong. The stand is built like a tank. With a sandbag on it (you are putting sandbags in your cart too, right?) it's not going anywhere. I'd trust my best lights, flags and modifiers on this stand.

Best grip gear brand in my books. We have 10 of these now, and they have been a workhorse. The turtle base is a must have, especially if you are a one-man-band or small crew. Makes packing in personal vehicles and shipping on planes much easier.

Even though I just spent $Thousand$ on cameras, lenses and audio gear, it's this thing that makes me feel legit in front of clients. Haha. I've always wanted my own C stand.

C-Stands are versatile workhorses for video and photo productions. These turtle base stands offer the added flexibility of removing the base for easier transport and storage. I've found this feature to be extremely helpful when loading into smaller vehicles and storage spaces.

I've been a location/event portrait photographer for 25 years. To be honest, I never heard of C stands, nor could tell you what the C stood for. I needed heavier stands for my mono lights when used outdoors. We had been using typical kit stands with 25lb plates for stability. I saw these while in BH. Brilliant. Absolutely stable! They hold a Hensel mono, soft-boxes/umbrellas, battery packs, etc. beautifully. In addition they have also replaced my Manfrotto Super Boom for certain shoots where the 4' boom is enough. The removable base is a nice feature when packing or storing for the next event.

For its price point, this stand has a very sturdy feel and great functionality. Would definitely buy more of them.

It's a C-Stand, nothing too complicated here. But if you want a C-Stand that's REALLY good at being a C-Stand, Matthews is the one to buy. It's one of the few things in the industry that could quite possibly last forever and never be obsolete.

Well built stand. Very heavy and not flimsy at all. Definitely worth the investment. I have 4 of these now. I use them for everything. If you need to mount anything more than a few pounds to the stand, I would recommend getting some sandbags to counterbalance to prevent tipping.
