Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. on a K3-III, can this flash work as a master to a remote AF540FGZII slave?

A: Yes. The following unit will trigger the flash via slave mode. A end-user must be mindful that the unit might not be stronger in certain shooting environments.

Q: 2. Is this flash compatible with the Fuji X100?

A: Hi, this flash is compatible with Pentax TTL, but not with Fujifilm TTL; you might be able to use it in Manual mode with the X100.

Q: 3. If you please, advise if this Pentax AF201FG Flash comes with batteries, if so, now many & what kind? Thanks

A: Mine included (2) AAA batteries that had a silver jacket but did not indicate any brand, manufacturer, or country of origin (nor any voltage). I would urge you to NOT use these 'free' batteries in the flash, because one of the two leaked acid at both ends and partially corroded the contact at the bottom of the battery compartment... I'm very P.O'ed about that!!! I purchased some Energizer 'Ultimate Lithium' AAA batteries to use going forward; bought them in a bulk pack at one of the big warehouse clubs for the lowest per battery cost. Lithium is known to have a long shelf life, while Rechargeable batteries typically will lose charge over time and they actually have an initial voltage of something less than 1.5 Volts (typically only 1.35 to 1.4+ or so) and rechargeables also lose voltage over a period of a few weeks.

Q: 4. Will flash work with K50? What is the fastest shutter speed that can be used with this flash?

A: I am happily using the flash with a K-1 Pentax camera and have no first hand knowledge of its suitability foa a K50.

Q: 5. Will this Odin II Transmitter for Canon trigger Mitros+ for Sony using Odin RX?Thanks :)

A: Transmitters for Canon can only trigger Mitros+ for Canon. Sony can only trigger for Sony.

Q: 6. Is there a diffuser compatible with this flash? I have searched high and low and can't find an officially supported one.

A: Considering the flash size you may try these https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1499346-REG/angler_psfd_100_portable_speedlight_flash_diffuser.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A6879&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvuzt1-2mhAMV2WVHAR2FiQH8EAQYAyABEgL7lPD_BwE or https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/837000-REG/Vello_Universal_Bounce_Diffuser.html/qa

Q: 7. Is this flash compatible with the Pentax K-3 Camera?

A: Yes, I use this flash with my K-3 and they work together just fine.

Q: 8. Is this flash TTL compatible with the Ricoh GRII?

A: This flash is not compatible with the Ricoh GR II. You can instead use the Ricoh GF-1.

Q: 9. Which country is this made in?

A: The Pentax AF201FG Flash is manufactured in the Philippines.

Q: 10. Compatible with Pentax k1000?

A: The Pentax AF201FG Flash should work on the very old K1000 but only in manual.

It is light and small, it only use 2 AAA batteries, very easy to bring it to walk around. It has tilt flash head can flash vertically and even it can tilt to the back to do some reflective flash, much more flexible than the internal flash. It almost need no time to recharge, you can flash immediately between shots without waiting for recharge, for flash uses only 2 AAA batteries, the performance is very good. The surface is the same as that of the professional DSLR, not the cheap plastic. If it has the light sensor to support light based triggering that would be even greater.

This is a small lightweight flash with full Pentax P-TTL functionality. It needs minimal space in my walk around bag, and works well at short distances with my 100mm macro lens, allowing smaller aperture to maximize depth of field for macro shots. I find it perfect for my needs when it's not necessary to use the larger Pentax flashes, which are significantly larger and heavier.
