Covering ultra-wide to wide-angle, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED from Nikon is a 15-36mm-equivalent DX-format lens well-suited for landscape, cityscape, interior, and architectural photography. The optical design uses three aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion elements to control aberrations and distortions in order to realize a high degree of sharpness and clarity. A Super Integrated Coating also suppresses flare and ghosting to increase overall contrast and color rendering when working in backlit and harsh lighting conditions. Additionally, a Silent Wave Motor enables fast, near-silent autofocus performance, along with full-time manual focus override, to benefit both stills and video applications.

A wide-angle zoom designed for DX-format sensors, this 10-24mm lens produces a 15-36mm equivalent focal length range.

Three aspherical elements are used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp imagery with accurate rendering.

Two extra-low dispersion elements greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater clarity and color accuracy.

A Super Integrated Coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.

Silent Wave Motor affords quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. An internal focusing design is also used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens fully compatible with the Nikon D80 body?

A: Yes, this lens would be fully compatible with the Nikon D80 body.

Q: 2. I was wondering if this Nikkor 10-24mm lens on my Nikon D500 camera would work like the Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye lens. What I am asking is would I need to get both lens for my camera or would the results be about the same. Would it be alright to get both lens or would I just need one or the other. Thank You!

A: This lens is not a fisheye, it's a wide-angle zoom. If you want fisheye effects you'll need a separate lens.

Q: 3. Will this lens work on a Nikon D90?

A: Yes, that lens is 100% compatible with the Nikon D90.

Q: 4. Is this lens weather-sealed? Thanks.

A: Nikon began putting a rubber ring at the lens mount to prevent dust, dirt, and water from getting into the mount with one of the early revisions of the exotic telephoto lenses and has tended to put them on all but the lowest-cost kit lenses ever since. At this point, the following lenses have this ring: DX primes: 35mm f/1.8G, 40mm f/2.8G, 85mm f/3.5G DX zooms: 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G, 16-80mm f/2.8-4E, 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G, 17-55mm f/2.8G, 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G, 18-140mm f/3.5-4.5G, 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G, 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G and f/3.5-6.3G, 55-300mm f/4-5.6G FX primes: all the f/1.4G and f/1.8G primes, the 45mm f/2.8D PC-E, 60mm f/2.8G, 85mm f/2.8D PC-E, 105mm f/2.8G, 300mm f/4E, 500mm f/5.6E, plus all the G- and E-type exotics (200mm to 800mm) FX zooms: 14-24mm f/2.8G, 16-35mm f/4G, 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G, 24-70mm f/2.8 G and E versions, 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G, 24-120mm f/4G, 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G, 70-300mm f/4-5.6G (most recent version), 70-200mm f/2.8G and f/4G, 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G VR, 180-400mm f/4E FL, 200-400mm f/4G (both versions), and 200-500mm f/5.6E

Q: 5. If I were to use this lens on Nikon D2X, would I still get the 10-24mm or would it translate to 15-36mm? Thank you!

A: This lens would have the 35mm equivalent focal length of 15-36mm on the D2X, or any other DX format camera.

Q: 6. Is the Nikon AF-S 10-24mm F4 G ED DX compatible with the D50 camera?

A: Yes

Q: 7. Thank You!

A: The 10-24 lens is designed to have far less distortion than that of the 10.5mm fisheye.

Q: 8. IS THIS LENS COMPATIBLE W/A NIKON D60?

A: The Nikon AF-S 10-24mm DX lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D60, including autofocus.

Q: 9. Will this 10-24mm work with the D700 Body?

A: That lens is a DX lens. It can be used on a D700 body but will crop the image by 1.5 times just like you were using a DX camera like a D7100. The default setting on the camera is to do this. You can over ride to shoot full frame with DX lenses but then you will get a vignette around the image.

Q: 10. I'm trying to pick out an excellent lens for sweeping, landscape shots. I have a Nikon D5300 and would appreciate recommendation.

A: If you are looking for a rectilinear lens for landscape or wide vistas, then yes, the Nikon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens would be a good option to choose for use on the Nikon D5300 DSLR camera with its DX sensor.

It is the best lens I own. Used it for the first time the other evening. Indoor shooting with Nikon B600 flash. The lens and flash were made for each other and produced terrific photos with excellent sharpness, wonder depth of field and very even light dispersal.

I use the lens a lot for shooting video on my Nikon D7000. I like it for parades at Disney. You can get up close and still get tops of floats in frame, easy to include all the performers. At Sea World you can sit down close enough to not have support beams in the way and include the whole show. One thing to keep in mind is that the 10mm setting does distort the view. At Epcot, the big sphere at entrance looks like an egg unless it is centered in frame. If you pan around, you can see the obvious distortion. Kind of cool, though, if you know it's there. Sweeping views with interesting skies are a really big strength, in my opinion. I used it to shoot a lot of pictures on a trip to the Philippines several months ago. I bought a screw-on 77mm lens hood at a photo shop in Mall of Asia. It shows in edges of frame until about the 14mm setting or so, but much better at keeping out stray light than the included lens hood. I try to keep it between 14 and 24 anyway to avoid much distortion. Most tests I've seen indicate that's the sweet spot, but I don't use the hood all the time anyway. (Please note: The included photos were downloaded from an album I have with pictures from this lens on Facebook. I didn't have them on the computer I am on right now. I don't know that they are as good as the original file would be.)

When I rented this lens for a weekend trip to Vancouver, BC, I didn't have any thought of buying it. But within a few hours of shooting, I knew I had to buy one. Now, it hardly leaves my camera -- and certainly NEVER leaves my camera bag. You should get one too!My only complaint is that there seems to be less room for error in low-light situations. Many of my photos are ending up with a touch more noise than I'm used to seeing with my 18-55 (3.5-5.6) kit lens. This makes sense because so much more visual data is being crammed into the sensor. The solution is to be careful and take the time to get great shots. Use a tripod. Don't trust the viewfinder; bracket through your exposure, ISO, etc. and you'll be sure to find something that works.Debating between going for more zoom or more angle? I'd say that going wide-angle opens up far more creative opportunities. For instance, take a look through Lurzer's Archive magazine. Probably 40% of the award-winning advertising photos are shot with wide angle, as opposed to 5% or less using zoom. Wide angle just opens up a whole new world of possibilities.A few of my wide-angle shots can be found at blake-manning . com

I use this lens to register my cave expeditions and I got excelente results with it. The lens has a wide angle (15mm in the old system) better then the usual 28mm thats the most commom in the market. A little bit heavy but nothing that can maculate the results of the photos taken
