System installers in search of a high-quality conferencing processor with AEC and VoIP will be impressed with the BSS Audio Soundweb London BLU-103, which offers a fixed configuration of 8 analog inputs and 8 analog outputs, a Voice over IP (VoIP) interface, configurable signal processing, AEC processing, and a high bandwidth, fault tolerant digital audio bus. The VoIP port enables the BLU-103 to interface with two VoIP (SIP v2.0 or later) lines.

The BLU-103 contains dedicated AEC processing for up to 8 independent AEC algorithms. The AEC algorithm can be applied to signals coming from the local analog inputs or from the digital audio bus. 8 individual AEC references (one per algorithm) allow the user to provide a solution for multiple conferencing spaces using a single device. Automatic Gain Control (AGC) and Noise Cancellation (NC) are also provided per AEC algorithm. AGC ensures that microphone levels remain at an optimum level, and NC removes steady state noise (such as from a projector fan or air conditioning device) from the signal path.

This processor features a low-latency, fault tolerant digital audio bus of 48 channels, which uses standard Category 5e cabling, giving a distance of 300 feet between compatible devices. Fiber media converters can be used to increase the distance between devices to over 24 miles. The BLU-103 is compatible with the entire Soundweb London family and its 48-channel digital audio bus represents channels 1-48 of the larger 256-channel digital audio bus when integrated with the BLU-806, BLU-805, BLU-800, BLU-326, BLU-325, BLU-320, BLU-160, BLU-120, BLU-BIB, and BLU-BOB devices.

Analog Inputs provide software configurable gain in 6 dB steps up to +48 dB per channel and software selectable phantom power per channel. Phantom power, signal present and clip information per channel is easily accessible, without the requirement for a PC, from clear front-panel LED indication. A bidirectional locate function allows devices to be identified both from and within HiQnet Audio Architect. 12 Control Inputs and 6 Logic Outputs allow the BLU-103 to be integrated with GPIO compatible devices. The Soundweb London Interface Kit, comprehensive documentation which details how Soundweb London systems can be integrated with third-party control systems, is included within the installation of HiQnet Audio Architect. The BLU-103 and the other members of the Soundweb London family provide the building blocks of the perfectly tailored system solution.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How large of an area can one of these pick up people speaking?

A: Per Sennheiser: "Thanks to the patented dynamic beamforming technology, you will now experience meetings and conferences that are as flexible as you are: A single TeamConnect Ceiling 2 captures your voice easily within a radius of up to 60 sqm – no matter what you do in the room. And once TeamConnect Ceiling 2 is installed, you will never have to worry about further configuration again."

Q: 2. In the effects, how long of a delay can you get with this mixer?

A: Behringer does not provide this specification. You may e-mail us at: Audio@BandH.com and we will be happy to contact Behringer for additional details.

Q: 3. Can this be use with any brand tv?

A: The Nureva HDL200 Audio Conferencing Soundbar (Black) BH #NUHDL200B • connects to a computer via the included USB 2.0 A-B cable. The computer will connect to the TV/monitor.

Q: 4. If I run all my inputs through the back of the board or through a stage box via s-link, will I see those inputs on the network?

A: Yes, it is possible to route all of the mixer's inputs through the Allen & Heath SQ Dante Module to connect to a Dante Network. You will be able to see the inputs on the network when viewing the Routing Page. The Input Direct Outputs get routed to the Dante card.

Q: 5. Have noise cancellation?

A: The Sennheiser TeamConnect SL Ceiling 2 Microphone Array BH #SESLCEILMIC2 does not offer active noise cancellation but it does focuse on whoever Is speaking.

Q: 6. Hello. Will a camera connected to HDMI-IN be visible to a PC connected to the USB port? Thank you

A: No, the Kramer 20-Port Audio Matrix is designed for switching audio and the HDMI input is only used for bringing in embedded audio signal and not for video capturing, therefore video will not be visible to a PC connected to the USB port.

Q: 7. Does this include the Dante card?

A: The Allen & Heath 32x32 Audio Matrix Processor-12x12 Local Analog I/O, Up to 128x128 Audio Networking-Dante 96kHz does not include a Dante card with purchase. The AH-M-SQ-Dante-A card must be added separately if needed.

Q: 8. AMD® processor vs Intel core I5?

A: You can use a PC computer running Windows XP Professional/Vista/Windows 7 or higher with either an AMD or an Intel Core i5 processor with the Bogen CORE 4x12 audio processor.

Q: 9. how do you address speaking internally and being able to hear from across the room? will the mics pick up the conversations both internally and externally through the ceiling mics and speakers without an echo?

A: The Sennheiser In-Ceiling Audio Conferencing Solution Kit with Mic Array, Processor, Amp & SpeakerBH #SEUSTCC2KITK (B&H Kit) will pick-up speech at a distance very nicely. Echo and noise cancellation technlogies are built into the system. Per Sennheiser: "Thanks to the patented dynamic beamforming technology, you will now experience meetings and conferences that are as flexible as you are: A single TeamConnect Ceiling 2 captures your voice easily within a radius of up to 60 sqm - no matter what you do in the room. Realizing the hybrid office is here to stay, I designed a home office wanting to have pro-grade gear like our office-office conference rooms. The Rally Camera has been a flawless addition, allowing me to be fully present from any spot in my home office large room; and to position the camera so I'm always speaking directly to my colleagues / interviewees with good eye contact and no nostril cam.

I use this soundboard for my studio and works perfect. The effects are very cool (I like the chipmunk the most). Perfect for a home studio and very portable, fits right into a laptop bag. I wish there was an on/off switch, but there isn't. I just have to turn it off at the powerstrip.

We put them in some conference rooms and had good results. One room that is loud with heating A.C. devices needed a little tweak up on the mic but it was easy to configure. Plugin by USB is very convenient. It is nice to set and forget a device like this.

The HDL300 exceeded our expectations.
When hosting video conference calls in our ~25'x20' room, the audio pickup was clear and noticeably exceeded the quality we got from our Polycom Trio 8800 with external mics. When using an audio bridge for dial-in, the ability to pick up voices anywhere in the room was clearly better than the Trio 8800, but the audio quality did drop to conference phone quality due to the compression done by the audio bridge codecs/telco providers.
We have a white noise generator in our office space and a moderately noisy A/C unit in the room, as well as in-ceiling speakers which we play the audio through. The unit does an exceptional job at filtering out the background noise and preventing feedback, while leaving voices audible. The audio sounds natural and not overly processed like some conference phone's noise-cancelling algorithms, which drop audio if there is a cough, for instance.
We don't use the built-in speakers, but they seemed to offer good quality sound during our initial testing.
Installation and configuration was fairly easy if you're even a little bit handy.
We paired it with the Logitech Rally camera and were very pleased with the results.
If you're struggling to be heard, and this is in your budget, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
