Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this lens work with d7000 Nikon?

A: Yes! Works like a champ!

Q: 2. Recently bought nikon 3200 will this lens work?

A: Yes, it is perfectly matched to the 3200.It's definitely a lens you want in your bag.Don't forget to get a UV Haze filter to protect it.

Q: 3. Does this lens work for a Nikon D7000?

A: The D7000 uses DX lens. When you look at a list of Nikon lenses, those made specifically for the D7000 & the D7001 are designated with a DX as this one does, AF-S DX.....

Q: 4. Is there a teleconverter that will work with this lens?

A: The Nikon AF-S 70-300mm lens would only be compatible with a third party teleconverter, such as one from Bower or Kenko, however please note that you will lose autofocus using a teleconverter with this lens. Compatible teleconverters can be found here: http://bhpho.to/1d29DH3

Q: 5. Please recommend me low light lense?

A: If you are looking for a telephoto zoom lens for low-light photography needs, then the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens, B&H # NI7020028, would work for your needs. The Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro AF Lens for Nikon AF, B&H # TA7020028MN, is the most economical option that has a constant f/2.8 aperture for low light telephoto zoom needs. If you are simply looking for an inexpensive low-light lens, and it does not have to be a telephoto lens or a zoom lens, then the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens, B&H # NI5018GAF, would work for your needs.

Q: 6. Since purchasing this lens, though she is quite heavy, would you have chosen the 500mm instead-less weight same quality a little less reaching capabilities or reach farther and go for the 800mm tripod mounted lens build up your muscles and gain more in the long run? If cost was not an issue respectfully.

A: This is a question of which lens is the right one for the job, so which lens should be purchased has to do with what you are shooting, and how much reach you need. That being said, ideally you will be using these lenses on a monopod or tripod even though they have VR. Shooting hand held with either of these for extended periods of time wouldnt be very realistic.

Q: 7. I'm ready to purchase, but would like to know what's the warranty on the lens, and who covers it? Thanks

A: The USA lens would come with Nikon USAs warranty, which would be a 5-year warranty (first year international, remaining four years USA only). The Imported lens would come with a one-year warranty from B&H.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with d3300?

A: Yes it is compatible. On a recent trip to Alaska It was my main lens. I took 386 pictures with it. It did a great job.

Q: 9. Are there any teleconverters that work with this lens?

A: I don't know. I am just using the lens.

Q: 10. Is this lense compatable with the D7000

A: The Nikon AF-S 70-300mm lens is fully compatible with the D7000, yes

I had this lens included as a kt lens when I switched to digital in '08. It worked beautifully for almost 4 yrs. before I felt the images started to lose their sharpness. Than after a particularly good drop I could feel the mechanics stutter and drag when I would try to change the focal length. I stopped using it for about 6 months, picked it back up and the stuttering was gone but it no longer worked as an auto focus lens and the sharpness was all but gone. I finally purchased a replacement a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be happier. It's a terrific lens. Crisp images all the way.

After what seemed like a very long year of contemplation, careful consideration, technical research, soul searching and intense meditation with a wise man in the Himalayas,I decided to buy this lens. Actually none of that is true, I was just saving up. It is a very expensive lens and now that I have it I feel it is well worth the price. I am an amateur wildlife photographer(proficient hobbiest) and being able to reach out there to get that great shot adds yet another level of Wow to an already exciting hobby.

I use this lens for wildlife/bird photography. I have it mounted on a Wimberley II head on a Gitzo 3531 tripod. I also purchased the Wimberley replacement foot. The setup is fantastic. The sharpness is amazing. I use the lens on a Nikon D300 body. The lens is heavy but knowing quality of the resulting images makes it all worth it. It is much sharper than my 70-200 with a 1.7x tele. (Of course). If you purchase this lens, you wont be sorry you did.

I currently have the 200-400 mm lens and thought it was sharp until I got the 500 mm. This is an exceptional lens.

This is a wildlife photographer's dream. Sharp wide open, does not get any sharper stopping down to F8. Very fast autofocus on a D200 and D300s. A low-profile foot that is sturdier is available from Wimberley, Really Right Stuff and other vendors - this is highly recommended for getting consistently sharp results. There is not much to dislike about this lens aside from the immense cost and the size/weight of this monster. I love shooting with this lens as long as I am strong enough to carry it.

This is a great lens for beginners and professionals alike. We bought this lens as a replacement for the orignal factory lens on our D40. The price was great and the lens works great
