The Countryman E6i Omnidirectional Microphone is a miniature earset microphone for virtually invisible operation in stage performances, trade shows, houses-of-worship, auctions, lectures and much more.

The omnidirectional version is most common in applications where feedback issues are not very likely. The microphone can be worn without a windscreen as the omnidirectional capsule provides excellent wind noise rejection.

The E6i is set apart from the original E6 with its softer flexible boom and silicon ear-pads. The flexible boom provides ease of boom adjustability to accommodate multi-user applications.

A wide variety of colors and connections are available for use with various wireless transmitters. This version is beige and features a Switchcraft TA4-Female connector for specific* Electro-Voice/Telex transmitters.

A miniature omnidirectional capsule is mounted to a low-profile, flexible frame with silicon ear pads. This lightweight, unobtrusive design is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin.

The included 2mm Diameter Duramax Cable detaches from the actual headset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy, as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate various wireless transmitters. The Duramax 2mm diameter cable provides extra strength, flexibility and durability.

The omnidirectional polar pattern is most effective in minimizing wind noise, plosives (popping) and handling noise. The flexible boom provides a custom fit for multiple users and close microphone positioning while minimizing off-axis noise. The E6i is also available in a cardioid version for maximum off-axis noise rejection in environments with high feedback and noise.

This E6i sensitivity response is optimized to accurately capture general speech without noise and distortion.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this work with a Sony Handycam 740 shoe?

A: Yes, the camera does have a dedicated 3.5mm external mic input with plug-in power and a standard shoe mount to attach the VideoMicro.

Q: 2. Can it be used with the Sony A7?

A: As long as your camera has a hot-shoe mount, the mic can be mounted. As long as your camera has an 1/8 audio input, the mic will plug into your camera. If you have both options, the yes it wil work on your camera. One thing that I do not like baout this mic is that it cannot be adjusted for direction. It has a cheap mount and thecamera will only point in the direction that the mount was molded in, which does not necessarily mean exactely straight.

Q: 3. Will this work with an iPhone if I first plug it into the Rode AI-Micro? Can I use the cable that comes with the mic or do I have to buy a special cable?

A: The Rode VideoMicro Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone should provide functionality when connected to an iPhone via the Rode AI-Micro Ultracompact 2x2 USB Type-C Audio Interface with Lightning connection implemented.

Q: 4. Will this work with iPad 12.9? If so, what other things do I need to purchase?

A: Yes, you can use the RODE VideoMicro Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone with the iPad 12.9. You will need to use the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (B&H # APLAADAP) and you can mount the microphone on a mini tripod like the JOBY GorillaPod 3K Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head Kit (B&H # JOJB01507).

Q: 5. Will the Rode VideoMicro work with panasonic lumix fz300?

A: It might. There is no battery power so it needs to pull off the camera. My 70D does fine but my hg30 video camcorder no go...

Q: 6. Would this be good for wildlife?

A: If you will be within a few feet of the subject, the Rode VideoMicro could work, but you would probably have better results if you use a longer microphone which will allow you to pickup sound from further away. The VideoMic NTG (B&H # ROVMNTG), NTG2 (B&H # RONTG2), or NTG4+ (B&H # RONTG4P) can all operate using batteries and can be connected to a camera or recorder that has a 3.5mm TRS mic input.

Q: 7. well this work with GoPro hero9?

Q: 8. Will this work with an Olympus EM5 II?? It is a Mirrorless, but I cannot find in the specs if the MIC plug is powered.

A: You can use it.

Q: 9. Will this work with a Canon Rebel T7 DSLR?

A: Unfortunately not, T7 camera has no external microphone input connector.

Q: 10. Can the audio feed be split so that I can plug this into both an iPhone and FM transmitter simultaneously?

A: No it can not. You would need a small mixer.
