A truly versatile wide-angle zoom featuring an advanced optical design and constant f/4 maximum aperture, the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Lens is a member of the esteemed L-series of lenses designed for full-frame EOS DSLRs. One Super UD element and one UD element offer a significant reduction in chromatic aberrations while four aspherical elements help to minimize distortions throughout the zoom range and provide consistent edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination. Both SWC and ASC coatings have been applied to the elements in order to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy. Ideally suited for landscape and architectural photography, this lens covers ultra-wide to wide-angle perspectives and backs up its versatile zoom range with sophisticated optical components and intuitive handling.

In regard to focusing performance, a ring-type Ultrasonic Motor offers fast, smooth, and near-silent autofocus, which is further benefitted by full-time manual focus operation and an internal focusing design. The lens is both water and dust-resistant, and fluorine coatings have also been applied to the front and rear elements to protect against fingerprints and smudges from affecting image quality.

Wide-angle zoom 11-24mm f/4 lens is compatible with full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, as well as APS-C-sized models where it will provide a 17.6-38.4mm equivalent focal length range.

Constant f/4 maximum aperture offers consistent performance and light transmission throughout the zoom range.

One Super Ultra Low Dispersion and one ultra-low dispersion element help to significantly reduce chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.

Four aspherical elements help to minimize distortions throughout the zoom range in order to maintain edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination.

Both a Subwavelength Coating (SWC) and an Air Sphere Coating (ASC) have been applied to lens elements to reduce backlit flaring and ghosting for maintained light transmission and high contrast in strong lighting conditions.

A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM), along with an internal focusing system, high-speed CPU, and optimized AF algorithms, are employed to deliver fast, precise, and near-silent autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override.

As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens is sealed against dust and moisture for working in inclement environmental conditions.

Protective fluorine coating has been applied to the front bulbous element to resist fingerprints and smudges and to make cleaning significantly easier.

Lens's design accepts rear insert-type gelatin filters, which are cut-to-size and inserted behind the rear lens element.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens mount to Rebel t5i?

A: Yes, this lens is a EF mount, so can be mounted on all Canon EOS cameras (including EOM M series via an adapter) for your Camera is a direct coupling, your camera accept all EF lenses and EF-S lenses

Q: 2. Since you are an authorized Canon USA dealer, I assume this lens comes with the official USA Manufacturer's warranty?

A: Yes, all lens sell by Canon USA authorized dealer should have 1 year USA Manufacturer Warranty. Need more information or confirm you can go to local Canon Service Center.

Q: 3. Will a polariser Gel work in the Rear slot effectively ? Thanks

A: I have not tried using the rear slot since my research indicated that a polarizer is not effective in such wide angle lenses. I am quite pleased with my new 11-24mm lens and have taken some beautiful shots in the sunshine.

Q: 4. On a Canon Mark 5 III would this possible be the best lens for trying to photograph the northern lights?

A: I currently own a dozen+ L lenses of all shapes and lengths, when I was considering the purchase I was going back and forth because of the price and I had other glass that was in the range at both ends. Canon was going to lend it to me to try through CPS but my impatience took over. After it arrived it in short order became one of the three lenses in my grab and go bag! Amazing is my answer... such a wide photo with such a low level of distortion on the edges... and the clarity is stunning =M

Q: 5. The Canon EF 11-24mm F/4.0 lens I just purchased from BandH has a small thin pile of dust about the size of a piece of corn on the external surface of the front glass near the tip. Is this normal for a brand new lens right out of the retail box upon receiving it? The dust was easy enough to wipe off with Zeiss lens tissues and the glass does not show any sign of scratch by naked eyes. No dust on the internal side of the glass as far as my eyes can tell. Any advice and input will help my expectation of a brand new professional lens.

A: While the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Lens is a professional lens, as it is also mass-produced in a factory, every-so-often there may be a minute chance of dust or other slight imperfection(s) that may be on the lens. If the dust or item was simply able to wipe off, there may be no other issue with the lens, and as long as the lens performs correctly as designed and you see no other imperfections or issues when testing the lens, the lens should be okay for usage. However, do note we do have a 30-Day Return Policy on the purchase of the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Lens (subject to the terms/conditions listed on the Return Policy link on the bottom of our website), so if you are not happy with the lens for whatever reason, you may return the lens for an exchange or refund by contacting our Customer Service Department.

Q: 6. Can this lens be used for Architecture? does it have rectilinear correction?

A: This lens can be used for Architectural Photography. It does have correction profiles to fix any distortions the lens can cause. This unlike the other options you were looking at is also a Full Frame EF lens. It can work on any EF camera.

Q: 7. can i use polarpro summit system with this lens?

A: No, the Polarpro Summit system will not work with the Canon 11-24mm lens.

Q: 8. What is the angle of view on an APS-C camera?

A: It would be a 1.6 crop so roughly 17-38mm.

Q: 9. Is the Lee Polyester Filter that comes up under accessories capable of being cut to fit the rear holder?

A: They will probable fit. I used Kodak Wratten, but the Lees seem to be similar by reading the spec. You need to cut small bevels on two adjacent corners to get them to feed all the way in. I can stack two filters in mine. Be careful that the lens element does not touch the filters when zoomed to 11mm. Mine do not, but some lenses do.

Q: 10. What size does the rear filter need to be cut to?

A: You cut gelatin filters to 30mm square and they slide into a very thin slot at the rear of the lens.

I gave this lens 5 stars because, first of all, it is the only rectilinear lens of this focal length in the world! Sure, Sigma and Nikon both have 12-24mm zooms; but 11 is 11, and 12 is 12, lol. It's on sale now; and I believe it's going to be discontinued. Be very careful in handling it because the front lens element is not protected; and you cannot place filters over it to avoid damage. I'm still putting this glass to the test. So, I have no pictures to post yet. I am going to Iceland to photograph the ice caves. That's where this chunk of glass will shine! Also, this completes my zoom kit ( EF 11-24mm f/4.0L, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L, and the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L )! With this set-up, I can cover virtually any assignment coming my way! In closing, I'd like to say, if you can afford to take a dive, go for it; and add this 'weapon' to your arsenal.

I waited a long time to get a wide-angle lens! I love it. Sharp and wide. Just what I wanted.

I shoot interiors and this lens makes all the difference. I'm not sure how I've gone without it all these years, but it's become my #1 lens for shooting interior assignments. The edges get a little stretched, as I had expected, but it looks nothing like a fisheye lens. This only arrived a few days ago so I haven't taken it outside yet, but the quality inside is second to none.

I am a novice photographer unworthy to own the latest Canon 5d iv and now this unique 11-24 ultra wide. I was intrigued by the reviews. It is such a unique and specialized lens I was thinking on returning it for the more mainstream new Canon 16-35 2.8 iii. I already have the version i. (Plus, the 16-35 is easier to handle and care for. The 11-14 really is a beast and one has to use caution with the unprotected front element.) I read and watched on you tube all of the reviews on both. After reading the negative reviews on the 16-35 iii regarding the vignetting at 2.8 I decided against it. If the vignetting has to always be corrected in Photoshop or that you need to shoot at f/4, then I guess I will just keep my 11-24 f/4. Although the B&H customer reviews gave the 16-35 iii five stars and didn't really mention the vignetting. Regarding the 11-24, it does have soft edges at the 11 range, But 12 and beyond is very sharp. Really, how often will one shoot all the way wide to 11. I do find myself regularly shooting in the 12-14 range and just love the outcome. When aimed correctly the distortion is minimal. To this novice, what seems to stand out most on the Canon 11-14 f/4 vs the 16-35 2.8 is that the colors on the 11-14 seem to be richer and truer. The lens is sharp and just plain fun to shoot.

I use this lens mainly for landscape purposes but I can tell that it will be put to use on interior shots as well as other uses. For example, I wish I had this lens while visiting NYC and trying to get a complete shot of the new WTC. I had the 16-35 but it just couldn't handle everything. So now I will have schedule another trip and put this new glass through the paces, looking forward to it. Little bit of a learning curve, need to watch your closest focal points, but this lens is sharp.

I absolutely love this lens. Great for 4K on 5D mark IV, Real estate photography & video projects. Colors are what you would expect from Canon, Amazing! I own the 16-35 2.8 ii and was very impressed with how much more range I got and with almost NO distortion when centered correctly.

I am using this lens exclusively for architectural photography and am very pleased. When Canon released this lens I was curious and rented it a few times to see if I liked it. I have since purchased it and am getting excellent results. Wider lenses are supposed to have poorer image quality. This one does not, it's amazingly good all the way to 11mm and all the way to the corners. My clients love the results as well.

Best of the best wide angle lense in all senses of the word.
I always wanted Canon to find a way of using filters which I saw very remote, but when I got my R5 Canon made possible with the Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R.
Good going Canon!!!
