Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. hi, would the kenko extension work with the NIkon D3100, I read on another post that they did not.... . does anybody know?

A: The Kenko Extension DG B&H # KEAETSND should work fine on the D3100 as long as you have a lens that will let enough light in for it to autofocus, if the lens hunts for focus just go to manual and focus that way. This is true on all cameras as per lenses. You may have little problems with zoom lenses, but with experience you will learn the how to adjust to any situation. I use them on a D7100 and love them.

Q: 2. I received a set today and it sounds like there are loose parts in all three tubes. Is this normal? Thanks!

A: Yes, that is definitely normal. There are spring loaded levers inside that's making the noise.

Q: 3. Will these tubes work with the D810 and the 60mm Macro?

A: Yes, this set is compatible with your D810 and the 60mm micro lens.

Q: 4. Can you use the extension rings with a true macro lens?

A: Yes you can. I have a Canon 100mm macro that I have used the extension tubes with and still get beautiful pictures - even of butterflies that dont stay still very long come out sharp. I would recommend this product. I keep it with me all the time.

Q: 5. Would I be able to use this set along with my Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens and Nikon d750 body?

A: Absolutely. These will work with any Nikon DSLR and I use them often with my 50mm f/1.8 G lens.

Q: 6. Will this work with AF-P lenses?

A: The Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG (12, 20 & 36mm Tubes) for Nikon Digital and Film Cameras is compatible with Nikon AF-P lenses.

Q: 7. Hi, I own a GH4 with a panasonic 20mm 1.7, and a 45mm 1.7. Will it work with the kenko extension tube?

A: I used mine on an Olympus OMD-EM10, and they worked very well. They should work on your Panasonic, with a few caveats. Since the Olympus has sensor-shift image stabilization, I could not test to see if they have the connections for IS on Panasonic lenses. Also, you will have a very short working distance with those lenses. The 45 mm should work OK, but the 20 may be a little short. I mainly use mine with a 60 mm macro, but have used them on a 12-40mm zoom (mostly at 40mm) and also with the Panny 100-300 zoom. The longer the focal length of your lens, the better the working distance, which is especially important for insects. The Kenko tubes seemed well built, so I bought a set for my Nikon camera too.

Q: 8. I have a 100 mm macro lens and want to use these extension tubes with it. Is the seal between THE TUB AND THE LENS secure and tightly fitted? Another set I have is loose and I cannot use it for fear of lens falling off..This probably applies to other lens also and not just the 100 mm macro.. Thank you.

A: I'm using a set of Kenko Extension tubes with a 100mm 2,8L lens and its not loose at all.

Q: 9. In the product reviews mention is made of both a plastic and a metal version of these tubes. If this is correct, what are these. I mean I'd buy genuine Nikon usually and stick to well built metal parts even if heavier but it does seem in this case these independent tubes are a better choice for the modern FX DSLR world where aperture rings on lenses are non existent in G series) and having the option of using AP modes with matrix metering is preferred.

A: The Kenko Auto Extension Tubes are plastic with metal contacts.

Q: 10. I know extension tube change the minimum focus distance. But does it change the how the len works? I meant if I use a portrait 85/1.4 with a tube set, can I use it like normal taking portrait like normal at the same distance as before?

A: No, these tubes are meant for macro shooting only.
