A: The Manfrotto 393 will work fine. The tripod has a standard 3/8 male thread for tripod heads.

A: I use it with an Manfrotto/bogen 3258, Gitzo Cremalire 3 and a Gitzo monopod, so any support system that is stable, has a 2 inch base plate and can handle the weight of the camera, the lens and the Manfrotto 393 head, should be OK.

A: I have the Manfrotto 057 Carbon 3 Section tripod. The specs on it say it supports up to 40 lbs (18 kg)but the heaviest lens, camera, collar combo I use on it is about 6 lbs (2.7 kg). It looks like overkill but I don't have to use any added weight to stabilize tripod, and can shoot at odd angles without worrying about it tipping over. However it is quite expensive.So for your 4 kg rig I'd say it would be more than enough. However I'd suggest you look for a somewhat less heavy duty tripod, and less expensive. Maybe aluminum instead of carbon.

A: I looked at your lens. There should be no problem with access to zoom and switches. However, there may be some adjusting you need to do for the focus ring closest to the end of the lens. I have my Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens mounted on this gimbal head. The only problem I have is manual focus. It is not that big of a problem, but it takes getting used to it.
