The black B6 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone, Low Sensitivity, with Hardwired Waterproof 2.5mm Connector for Lectrosonics Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a very small lav microphone measuring one tenth of an inch in diameter with changeable protective caps, which provide moisture resistance and color options. The mic can be used to capture audio for theater, broadcast, churches, and general lavalier applications.

Built with a low handling noise and rugged construction, the B6 lavalier microphone can be easily hidden in hair or on costumes, or taped to a performer's face. The aramid cable and ultra-thin diaphragm deliver a natural sound while its tiny size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection. The B6's cable terminates to a waterproof 2.5mm connector for direct connection to a Lectrosonics MM200, MM400, MM400a, MM400b, or MM400c wireless bodypack transmitter.

Additionally, swappable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or match other microphones. The B6 microphone is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. These caps can be quickly removed for cleaning or replacement.

Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B6 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.

The B6 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps, and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.

The B6 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 140 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.

Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.

Low, head miking for theater.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This is a question about the Zoom Folder Hierarchy or Folder Structure. It seems that within a Zoom Folder, each and every time I start and stop a recording, it creates a NEW FOLDER within the MAIN FOLDER with that SINGLE AUDIO TRACK. Is there a way to record ALL audio tracks together within a single folder? This would make it much faster to edit all of the tracks together once downloaded. This is how Tascam work and is the most logical. If not, any tips on easily gathering the files after recording?

A: There really is no work around: Note: “nnnn” in the file name is the project number • All the files that are created during the same recording are managed by the as a single project unit. • During recording if the file size exceeds 2 GB a new file will be created automatically in the same project and recording will continue without pause. When this happens, numbers will be added to the ends of the file names: “-0001” for the first file, “-0002” for the second file and so on. See page #25: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/534154.pdf

Q: 2. I remember hearing that you can use a power brick with the Zoom H6 (plug the power brick into the USB port). Can anyone confirm if this is correct, and if so, are there limitations / recommendations on power brick specs?

A: I've used the Zoom H6 plugged via the USB port without a problem.

Q: 3. I am new to audio recording. I make short films at what db level I should record the voice and sounds? At what gain number (1-10) I should keep the channel knobs while recording.

A: There is no universal setting that works in all situations. You should try to get the levels as high as possible, without them ever maxing out, clipping. That will always depend on where the mic is in relation to where the actor is, and how soft or loud they will be. While they rehearse set the levels so they only hit red a tiny bit. It's always best to have someone attending to the sound so they can adjust the levels if the actors get louder than rehearsed. Break a leg! ;)

Q: 4. Does the device allow you to create unique file names? When relinking media during editing I don't want to have multiple clips named "Zoom 1" etc.

A: You can change the project names for recordings created on the H6 to use a unique name. Although the root portion of file names within a project can be the same for multiple files, there will not be duplicate file names since the extended name of each file will be different. Here is a link to the H6 user manual for more details (see page 25 for folder and file structure, page 50 for changing project names): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/534154.pdf

Q: 5. How do these devices fear for double usage.. : Use it as a Musik player SD cards, as a Walkman, in the car or home HiFi stereo ) ? Does it play all tracks of a folder..? No playlist I presume - and interface just impossible for navigation ?Would need a better playback chip ?Just wonder as I do need an excellent recorder sometimes, I could often listen to good music between these occasions ;-) (I do use my mobile phone and a dedicated mobile player but still I wonder)

A: I don't use mine for playback only for recording. It's an amazing recorder for live music. I download the wave files for further editing

Q: 6. Can this be hooked up to a speaker to hear the recorded music?

A: Yes. It has a built in speaker as well.

Q: 7. Does it have running timecode?

A: The Zoom H6 does not run time code. However, the Zoom F4 and the F8 are capable of running time code.

Q: 8. Has anyone tried Lithium Ion batteries in this unit? Do they work?

A: Lithium AA batteries work fine and may last two to three times longer than alkaline cells.

Q: 9. Is this a good mic for interviews? Like voice over quality interview? Im trying to choose between this or the Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun mic, some help would be REALLY helpful.

A: I have compared the Zoom capsules to the MKE via YouTube demos and bought the MKE. It’s got a nice ‘broadcast tone’ but mildly so and not gauzy like an SM7b. It also has less noise and greater off-axis rejection than any of the Zoom capsules. Also, it’s free from the proprietary tethering which afflict the capsules. The mic is much larger and heavier, however. Ideally, you’d get both the MKE and an external recorder like this H6 or similar. I’d consider the capsules for limited budget, convenience & stereo recording but not for the utmost in sound quality, directionality or independence.

Q: 10. Does the H6 have the ability to do auto-levels?

A: I dont think so, it also can only do bracket levels from the attachable capsules,
