Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the Better Beamer work with the older Canon 550 EX ?

A: This one will not, but this one will: https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/427601-REG target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/427601-REG/aHappy shooting!

Q: 2. What 6 foot or higher stand can I purchase to mount the SB-R200 on? If I need a special connector, which one will work? Besides using for macro, I want to use it as additional lighting for portraits, ideally with an umbrella diffuser mount. Or, will this be inadequate for portrait fill lighting and I need to look at something more?

A: I wouldn't think these are good for anything but macro...I use them with Really Right Stuff Flash Ring and their specially designed fitting to mount the 200's on the ring. With some of Nikons newer cameras (I'm using an 810) you can set the built in flash to commander mode and it will fire the 200's; you can set the nikon built in flash to not fire. I find it to be a really sweet setup for macro work.

Q: 3. Would this model FX6 fit the Godox Ving V860ll ? Thanks!

A: The Visual Echoes FX3 Better Beamer Flash Extender for Use with Telephoto LensesB&H # VIFX3, would be the better option for use with the Godox VING V860IIS TTL Li-Ion Flash. The Visual Echoes FX6 Better Beamer may also work, but it would be slightly larger than needed for use with the flash.

Q: 4. It this compatible with Nikon D60? thanks

A: The Nikon SB-R200 is would be compatible with D60 with the use of a Nikon SU-800 Commander, B&H # NISU800.

Q: 5. I am trying to locate the N1 version for my SB800..... It doesn't show up on your site. Why?

A: The Bolt CBP-N1 was for the SB-800 and like the flash, is no longer available. Nissin's NDP300N Power Pack Pro 300 Battery is an external power source for Nissin Di866 flashes and Nikon SB900, SB800, SB80DX, SB28DX Speedlights. The Power Pack Pro 300 consists of a heavy aluminum housing and contains a rechargeable 7.2VAC, 3300mAh NiMH battery cluster (NBC300) that outputs DC 315V. The battery cluster is good for over 300 shots of full power flashes and can be recharged more than 200 times. http://bhpho.to/1lXFSbG

Q: 6. I see that this is lens-mounted or off-camera flash for macro. what is the right hot-shoe mounted flash for a D-80 for general photography? Or what are the options--the models I should be looking at? Thanks.

A: If you are looking for the Nikon Speedlight flashes designed for hot shoe usage, the options that are available would be the Nikon SB-300 Speedlight, B&H # NISB300, the Nikon SB-500 AF Speedlight, B&H # NISB500, the Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight, B&H # NISB700, or the Nikon SB-5000 AF Speedlight, B&H # NISB5000. The Nikon SB-R200 Wireless Remote Speedlight is not designed for hot shoe usage. It is designed for macro photography and either connects to the front of your lens using the Nikon SX-1 Attachment Ring and a lens adapter ring, or it connects to the Nikon AS-20 Speedlight Stand.

Q: 7. Does it come with the lens mount?

A: No, but it does come with platform mount. If you buy the kit with two flashes it comes with everything you need for micro photography.

Q: 8. What are the recycle times when there are 4 Ni-MH batteries in the battery pack? When there are 8 batteries? The Product Highlights list at the top says, Fast Recycle Times Up to 1.24 Sec. The product description below says, Recycles as fast as 1.92 seconds (with 4x AA alkaline batteries in flash unit and 8x Ni-MH batteries in Compact Battery Pack). So is it 1.24 seconds or 1.92 seconds?

A: First the way battery packs work with a SB-900 and SB-910 you need the AA batteries in the flash and you need eight in the pack. It cannot be used any other way. The fastest the flash will recycle can be as fast as 1.92 seconds. The 1.24 is a web error.

Q: 9. Is this flash compatible with the D800 remotely, without the need to purchase additional cables, adapters, etc...?

A: By using the D800's pop-up flash as a master, you can control the SB-R200 remotely. You will not need any additional accessories.

Q: 10. Will this flash operate with the D7100 camera and SB-700 flash?

A: Yes, the SB-R200 will be compatible with the Nikon D7100 and SB-700 flash.
