Once the screen is installed, the integrated trim conceals the rough opening, eliminating the need to complete additional trim work.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What flash do you recommend with this softbox? Thanks (working with newborn)

A: There is no specific flash that is recommended for use with the Westcott Recessed Mega JS Apollo (50 x 50 ), as it is compatible for use with all studio flashes (except Elinchrom flashes), and can be used with any standard hot shoe flash with the use of an adapter, such as the Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe, B&H # IMUB. While the use of a relatively powerful studio strobe unit, such as the Impact Digital Monolight 300W/s (120VAC), B&H # IMVSD300, would be a good recommendation, most any studio strobe or hot shoe flash may be used with the Westcott Recessed Mega JS Apollo (50 x 50 ).

Q: 2. Is there an egg crate for this softbox?

A: I found an inexpensive one that was too long for it and trimmed it to fit. The width was right just a bit long. Just search for one the same width and some will show up.

Q: 3. It says this is good for group shots. How many in a group would this be recommended to accommodate in a group shot?

A: Larger modifiers like the Mega JS are considered for groups as they provide a greater area of soft even light. Used at the appropriate angle and distance and with a light source capable of providing adequate exposure, The Mega should be a good choice as a modifier for various size group photos.

Q: 4. Can this box be angled up toward ceiling at 45 degrees? Is the slit long enough? I want to use as background for high key fashion head shots....

A: It does not angle well. On a C stand you can rotate the arm up, but it still tends to slip. this is really my only gripe o this product.

Q: 5. The tube of the westscott softbox is too thick for my flash bracket mount. What bracket can i get that would fit this? Thanks.

A: Godox S2 is a good bracket. https://bhpho.to/34jdQ6K

Q: 6. What stand would be a good choice to place the Westcott 50x50 very low to the ground for newborn photography? Preferably under $80.

A: I use Mathews reverse stand! It goes right low to the ground. Perfect for newborn and baby photography :)

Q: 7. how many pounds?

A: 2.0 lbs.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with an Einstein?

A: I have mine set up with an Einstein!

Q: 9. I have Novatron M 500 monolights. My sessions takes around 2 to 3 hours. The modeling lights are on the whole time. Will this overheat the box?

A: This softbox is fine for modeling lamps that are 250 watts or below.

Q: 10. Would this work nicely on the AD600 and AD200?

A: The umbrella mount of the large Mega JS will easily accommodate either of these. Using a remote with power adjustment capabilities will enable you to control the output, even though the light head is enclosed within the modifier.

Very easy to open and attach to a strobe, any strobe I think (goes in like an umbrella). Huge light. I love it

this folds up like an umbrella and is very easy to set up/put away. It also gives the most beautiful catch lights. I would recommend this anyone who is doing a contemporary style studio lighting.

Sets up in a snap, once you get the hang of it. Diffusion panel is velcro'd, so you can quickly open it to adjust power settings and what-not. Fantastic for lighting groups of 5 or more people.

I am using this softbox as my only light modifier at the moment. It helps soften and spread the light wonderfully for the work I do w/ children and infants. Only wish I'd gotten it sooner!
