The Ensemble Designs BrightEye 56 is an HD/SD/analog test signal and sync pulse generator designed to provide accurate and versatile synchronization for audio and video engineers in remote trucks, post-production facilities, and mobile video production setups. It offers the ability to be a master or slave generator and is genlockable.

A single BNC reference input accepts composite video (PAL or NTSC), tri-level sync, or 10 MHz signal. Seven BNC jacks provide dedicated composite, tri-level sync, SDI, and AES outputs, plus there are three programmable BNC outputs. Also, a two-channel analog output is available on a terminal block connection.

The BrightEye 56 boasts over 30 HD and SD test signals and patterns, a timecode generator, and a sync pulse generator. Many of its settings are accessible via front-panel controls, and full access to all configurable options can be unlocked via BrightEye software on a USB-connected computer.

Q: 1. Can tentacle sync send lavaliere audio to camera?

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator is only a timecode generator and does not support lav mic connection. An alternate solution could be - Tentacle Sync TRACK E Pocket Audio Recorder with Lavalier Mic and Timecode Support https://bhpho.to/3HpaN38

Q: 2. What happens if I want to film in 60fps or 120fps? Is this still possible with this timecode generator?

A: Yes, just use your Tentacle unit with 30 fps (29,97 fps, 25 fps), when recording 60 fps (59,94 fps, 50 fps). Then work with Tentacle Sync Studio software and it will automatically detect the difference and will recalculate the timecode for the higher frame rate.

Q: 3. Is the older non Bluetooth version compatible with this mkII version?

A: Yes, one can sync between Tentacle Sync models using a 3.5mm cable when a wireless sync model is not present.

Q: 4. Can this unit handle 60 or 120 fps? If not, is there a product that can?

A: No, the Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 (Dual Set) can sync to 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, and 30 fps only, they are not capable of syndic with 60 or 120, though most timecode generators do not support those frame rates either, as they are not relevant for audio recording. TentacleSynce recommends the following when shooting at higher frame rates, "Just use your Tentacle unit with 30 fps (29,97 fps, 25 fps), when recording 60 fps (59,94 fps, 50 fps). Our Tentacle Sync Studio software will automatically detect the difference and will recalculate the timecode for the higher frame rate. " See: https://bhpho.to/45oN2k6

Q: 5. Could I use a BNC cable, like the one linked below, to use this Tentacle Sync with a Sony FX6? I'm looking to find a way to use the FX6 without a top handle and still have an audio source. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1327596-REG/tentacle_sync_c08_cable_tentacle_to.html

A: Yes, You can use the Sony FX6 time code port which is BNC with this cable. Good info from Tenticle sync - https://bit.ly/3qcTYih Also see page 7 #23 in the FX6 manual for the port location - https://bit.ly/3e6Rpv2

Q: 6. x or y?

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 displays the timecode in position x on the app.

Q: 7. Can I sync Timecode with ths unit as a master with a BMPCC 6K Pro using a 3.5 mm cable?

A: Yes, the Tentacle Sync Sync E Mk2 Timecode Generator is able to pass time code to the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K Camera using a 3.5mm cable. Please note that you will need to go into the menu of the Pocket Cinema 6K camera to enable this feature.

Q: 8. If it does not record internally, then is just a timecode generator that accept a timecode input and output timecode too using 3.5 mm for any camera or sound device and bluetooth compatible with a Tentacle Sync product?

A: The Tentacle SYNC E's generate a Timecode standard called SMPTE 12M. This standard is widely used in broadcast productions. Some camera can read the signal and embed it into the metadata of the video files they record. Others can't do this, like most of the DSLR and Mirrorless cameras. On these cameras, you can record the same signal on an audio track along the video. This is called Audio TC. Some editing programs like AVID Media Composer, or DaVinci Resolve can directly read the Audio TC, others need to have it embedded first before you can sync the files. For this, Tentacle offers software: Tentacle Sync Studio (macOS) or Tentacle Timecode Tool (Windows)

Q: 9. Will this work with a bmpcc 4k and a canon c70 and a panasonic gh6 and a nikon d7200 and a panasonic af101? I want to use this with many different cameras.

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 will work with any camera that has a either a dedicated time code port or an audio jack. It is able to jam sync through audio ports and link them via the Tentacle Sync software. It would work fine with each of these camera options, when connected to their audio jacks or to the C70, via it's timecode port with BNC adapter.

Q: 10. Does this do audio timecode too?

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 (Single Set) can generate time code for both cameras and audio recorders/mixers.
