The black E6i (Microdot) from Countryman is a miniature, omnidirectional, earset condenser microphone designed for accurate voice reproduction (speaking and singing) and near-invisible appearance in theater, concerts, lectures, houses or worship, and more. It features a water- and wind-resistant capsule that delivers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. The omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from all directions and should be used when feedback is not common.

The 5’ detachable cable has a diameter of 2mm, and features a Microdot connector for compatibility with Sennheiser transmitters. The E6i offers a flexible boom for versatile placement. The three protective caps yield different high-end frequency presence. The supplied windscreen protects the condenser element, and reduces plosives and wind noise. Cable clips and a carrying case are included.

A miniature omnidirectional capsule is mounted to a low-profile, flexible frame with silicon ear section. This lightweight, unobtrusive design is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin. For more information on which color earset suits you best, refer to the Countryman support page.

The included 2mm diameter cable detaches from the actual headset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy, as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate various wireless transmitters. The Duramax 2mm diameter cable provides extra strength, flexibility and durability.

The omnidirectional polar pattern is most effective in minimizing wind noise, plosives (popping) and handling noise. The flexible boom provides a custom fit for multiple users and close microphone positioning while minimizing off-axis noise. The E6i is also available in a cardioid version for maximum off-axis noise rejection in environments with high feedback and noise.

This E6i sensitivity response is optimized to accurately capture both speech and vocal performances without noise and distortion.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work with OLYMPUS OMD-EM1?

A: This camera will supply the plug-in power voltage required by this microphone.

Q: 2. will this one work with the Tascam dr100?

A: The Rode Video Micro requires connection to a 1/8 (3.5mm) mic level input. Unfortunately not available on the Tascam DR-100 recorder.

Q: 3. Can I used this with a Zoom H4n as an external microphone?

A: You can use the Video Micro with your zoom recorder with the adapter below and providing phantom power: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1358231-REG/rode_vxlr_mini_jack_to_xlr_adaptor.html?sts=pi&pim=Y Additionally you can plug directly into the 3.5mm mic input, but that will disable the on-board microphones.

Q: 4. So if I want my audio converted to digital IN-MIC, I need a Sony A7R IV? And using it on my Sony A7iii only gets me analog into camera? Please confirm.

A: Hi Roger, This microphone will work with the Sony A7III for Analog Audio through the Multi-Interface Shoe on the camera. For digital audio, you will need Sony A7RIV or A9II for the feature to work.

Q: 5. I have a nikon d5500 and this is not working! It still records with the bad internal mic :( help???

A: The Rode VideoMicro Microphone is a bit of an oddity. It's only intended for certain consumer style devices that supply it power through the mic input; such as a smart phones, audio recorders and some video cameras like the DJO Osmo. It doesn't work with many DSLR cameras.

Q: 6. Will this work for a Sony a7s?

A: Yes - as long as you have a mic or sound in jack on your camera.

Q: 7. can this be used on the Nikon D800 and D810? Thanks.

A: Yes you can use it with your Nikon D800. The Rode Rode Video Micro runs on plug in power which your camera has. You should also know the Micro has 2 different connectors. If you look at the connector and see 3 black rings that is for a phone. It's called a TRRS connector. For your camera you want a TRS which is a standard stereo connector with only 2 black rings on the connector. Both are 3.5mm connectors. If you get the one for your camera it will come with an adapter so you can use it with your phone or camera.

Q: 8. Can I use it with Canon 5D mk IV ?

A: Yes. This mic is compatible with the Canon 5D, or any camera that has a 3.5mm microphone input jack.

Q: 9. Does the mic work with the Sony A6000?

A: No, this mic is not compatible with the A6000. Here is a compatible recommendation B&H # SOECMGZ1M.

Q: 10. Does this mic pickup good audio for run and gun interviews? I'm wanting to use with my DSLR and or iPhone. I have a sennheiser MKE 600 which is nice but also looking for compact mic with good audio that I can use for quick interviews like sports, on the field interviews. Thanks!

A: It's a decent option, but it all comes down to how professional you want your sound to be. As long as you're fairly close to the subject, it will pick up good sound. For something longer than 10-15 seconds, i would take out a lav mic and have the interviewee hold the mic.
