Understanding Shutter Speed: Creative Action and Low-Light Photography Beyond 1/125 Second - The first book in the Understanding Photography series, Understanding Exposure, was a runaway best-seller, with more than 250,000 copies sold.

Now author Bryan Peterson brings his signature style to another important photography topic: shutter speed. With clear, jargon-free explanations of terms and techniques, plus compelling "before-and-after" photos that pair a mediocre image (created using the wrong shutter speed) with a great image (created using the right shutter speed), this is the definitive practical guide to mastering an often-confusing subject.

Topics include freezing and implying motion, panning, zooming, exposure, Bogen Super Clamps, and rendering motion effects with Photoshop, all with helpful guidance for both digital and film formats. Great for beginners and serious amateurs, Understanding Shutter Speed is the definitive handy guide to mastering shutter speed for superb results.

About the Author: Bryan Peterson, a professional photographer, is the author of Understanding Exposure, Beyond Portraiture, Learning to See Creatively, and Understanding Digital Photography. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this adapter work with the Aputure Lightstorm C 120D MK II?

A: This speed ring will work with a Aputure 120D II.

Q: 2. What are the Max dimensions for the phone holder? I just bought a new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra... height is 6.6" with case! Thank you...

A: The holder would hold the phone in landscape mode, so the height would not be a factor.

Q: 3. What is the outer ring diameter?

A: 142mm/5.59" inch. The lip is 3.30mm/.129" inch This was to big and did not fit my speed ring where the insert diameter on that one measures to 139-140mm. Although it states Bowens S, it does fit the mount on my strobe. There are slight tolerances between some of the Bowens accessories so this may or may not fit exactly.

Q: 4. Has anyone tried this with the Panasonic LX100 MKII?

A: No, the Panasonic DMW-RS2 Remote Shutter is not compatible with the Panasonic Lumix DC-LX100 II. The Panasonic Lumix DC-LX100 II can be used for remote shooting with a smart device and the free app by Panasonic.

Q: 5. Can you do a half press? I use that for prefocus and to wake g9 from sleep mode.

A: Yes, you can. The Panasonic DMW-RS2 Remote Shutter remote controls all shutter operations not just release.

Q: 6. does it plug into the same input as the external microphone?

A: No, the remote port and the mic port are seperate.

Q: 7. Will it fit iphone x?

A: Yes, this will fit an iPhone X.

Q: 8. What is the total length of the cable on the remote? It looks like it comes with an extension segment; so if you add that how far will it reach? Thanks.

A: The main cable on the Panasonic DMW-RS2 Remote Shutter is 31.4".

Q: 9. Hi is this speedring strong enough to hold the 5' octa?

A: I have the 2 x3 softbox which use it mostly with this. Even though the speedring looks strong as it's all metal, the only weak point is the handle and I had problems before. It's all plastic inside and if you force to tight it will brake. I had to replace mine with an metal handle and it's fine now.

Q: 10. Is this remote release compatible with the Panasonic Lumix GH4?

A: Searching for the DMW-RSL1 on B&H and Panasonic, it has been discontinued and is no longer available. Or, am I missing something?
