A: Consider the MS like ur face and ur hands open. so the M is your face and the S is the sides of ur hands. we would record MS typically for capturing ambience as well within the recording on a separate (S) track. I wouldn't advise it for podcast . The best thing you can for podcast is the following: direct one of the Stereo mic that comes with the H5 towards you so the other would be actually rejecting ur voice. on any editing software separate the left from right and cancel the one rejecting your voice. This way, you will maximise your direct sound. do not forget to put the sponge filter of course.

Even comparing the H5 to the old H4N which has xlr inputs as well, you can clearly hear a difference in sound quality. Less gain is required before noise starts.
