The beige E6i (Screw-On TA4F) from Countryman is a miniature, omnidirectional, earset condenser microphone designed for accurate voice reproduction (speaking and singing) and near-invisible appearance in theater, concerts, lectures, houses or worship, and more. It features a water- and wind-resistant capsule that delivers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. The omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from all directions and should be used when feedback is not common.

The 5’ detachable cable has a diameter of 2mm, and features a screw-on TA4F connector for compatibility with Sabine transmitters. The E6i offers a flexible boom for versatile placement. The three protective caps yield different high-end frequency presence. The supplied windscreen protects the condenser element, and reduces plosives and wind noise. Cable clips and a carrying case are included.

A miniature omnidirectional capsule is mounted to a low-profile, flexible frame with silicon ear section. This lightweight, unobtrusive design is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin. For more information on which color earset suits you best, refer to the Countryman support page.

The included 2mm diameter cable detaches from the actual headset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy, as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate various wireless transmitters. The Duramax 2mm diameter cable provides extra strength, flexibility and durability.

The omnidirectional polar pattern is most effective in minimizing wind noise, plosives (popping) and handling noise. The flexible boom provides a custom fit for multiple users and close microphone positioning while minimizing off-axis noise. The E6i is also available in a cardioid version for maximum off-axis noise rejection in environments with high feedback and noise.

This E6i sensitivity response is optimized to accurately capture both speech and vocal performances without noise and distortion.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How can I mount this mic to a standard boom pole?

A: The included shock mount has a 3/8" female thread on the bottom which is the standard thread size for boompoles. You can simply screw the shock mount onto the male thread of your boompole to attach it and you'll be good to go.

Q: 2. Is this mic compatible with Sony A7 ii?

A: The Sony ECM-GZ1M Zoom Microphone for Cameras with Multi-Interface Shoe will be compatible wit the a7 II, yes.

Q: 3. Is this Microphone compatible with the Nikon D5200, also will this mic be powerful enough or have enough reach for a documentary/vlog on a trip i'm taking? (I don't know a whole lot about frequency range)

A: I have a Nikon D5200 and I purchased this mic for that purpose. I have been using a battery powered Sony mic but I thought having a non-battery mic would be advantageous. I did some testing and the sound is quite good along with the build quality. Just make sure you are relatively close and make the proper adjustments in the video menu of the camera. Before you start on your documentary try some test clips/captures at different distances and see what works best - there will always be a compromise. I tried it on a Canon video camera (Vixia HFM52) but the camera doesn't appear to provide power through the 3.5mm jack. Good luck and have fun.

Q: 4. What is the frequency range for the audio? The demos sound really like there is no low end.

A: Sony lists the frequency range as 40Hz - 20kHz

Q: 5. How does this work with a Nikon d7200?

A: It plugs into the mic input

Q: 6. No longer have the original packaging for the VideoMicro, how do you find the serial number for warranty registration?

A: Rode microphones have their serial number written on a card included with the packaging. It is not written on the microphone itself.

Q: 7. will it work with a canon eos 80D?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. I have a Canon 7D Mkii and 5D Mkiii. I just bought this microphone and find that both cameras' internal mics are better than the VideoMicro. Any suggestions on what I should be trying next? Would like to stay below $200.

A: Consider the Shure VP83 - its the best I've used under $200: Product Highlights Camera-Mount Condenser Microphone Integrated Rycote Lyre System Three-Position Gain Adjustment Switchable Low-Cut Filter 130 Hours of Battery Life Attached 3.5mm Audio Cable Standard-Size Shoe Mount Lightweight All-Metal Construction Includes Foam Windscreen

Q: 9. Will this work with a Sony RX10iv?

A: Yes, this mic has a standard connection that fits any camera with mic in jack

Q: 10. Will this work on a Sony ZV 1. What is power draw?

A: Yes it is compatible. The Rode VideoMicro takes 2 to 5 V (Plug-In Power).
