The cocoa E6i (TA4F) from Countryman is a miniature, omnidirectional, earset condenser microphone designed for accurate voice reproduction (speaking and singing) and near-invisible appearance in theater, concerts, lectures, houses or worship, and more. It features a water- and wind-resistant capsule that delivers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. The omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from all directions and should be used when feedback is not common.

The 5’ detachable cable has a diameter of 1mm, and features a TA4F connector for compatibility with specific* Electro-Voice and all Telex transmitters. The E6i offers a flexible boom for versatile placement. The three protective caps yield different high-end frequency presence. The supplied windscreen protects the condenser element, and reduces plosives and wind noise. Cable clips and a carrying case are included.

A miniature omnidirectional capsule is mounted to a low-profile, flexible frame with silicon ear section. This lightweight, unobtrusive design is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin. For more information on which color earset suits you best, refer to the Countryman support page.

The included 1mm diameter cable detaches from the actual headset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy, as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate various wireless transmitters.

The omnidirectional polar pattern is most effective in minimizing wind noise, plosives (popping) and handling noise. The flexible boom provides a custom fit for multiple users and close microphone positioning while minimizing off-axis noise. The E6i is also available in a cardioid version for maximum off-axis noise rejection in environments with high feedback and noise.

This E6i sensitivity response is optimized to accurately capture both speech and vocal performances without noise and distortion.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will both the digital and analog audio work for the a7c?

A: Yes, as it has the updated MI-hotshoe. For a full list of compatible cameras and their caveats, see: https://bit.ly/3ma1pCy

Q: 2. Does the Rode VideoMicro work with a GoPro Hero 2?The Hero 2 has a 3.5mm mic input but it is not powered.

A: The VideoMicro will need plug-in power from the recording device.

Q: 3. Does the zoom feature of the mic (digitally sliding between cardiod and shotgun modes, in proportion to the optical zoom position) work for the Sony A7iii? I'm worried it only works with Sony camcorders since they have fly-by-wire optical zoom.

A: No there is no optical syncing with the cameras lens at all.

Q: 4. The included deadcat muff is only good enough for mild side and back wind. It's inadequate for stronger wind. Does anyone have a recommendation for a more robust wind noise cancellation solution for this for 20-30mph wind hitting the back of it? (Shooting while riding a Segway). Thank you for your help!!!

A: You can try layering a foam windscreen underneath the deadcat and that should provide much better protection from wind noise.

Q: 5. Would this work with sony a6500?

A: Yes A6500 has same pin/contact set up as A6000 in hot shoe

Q: 6. Is the microphone compatible with SONY A7S ii ? and if so, what all functions are supported? (Noise cancelation, directionality function and digital mode)

A: This is only compible with cameras the have the Sony Multi Interface Shoe, not the A7S iii.

Q: 7. will this mic work on the Panasonic hc v700 and the canon HF G40?

A: A camera supplying plug in power is needed to operate the Rode VideoMicro. Only the Panasonic HC-V700 (not the Canon HF-G40) will provide the necessary voltage to power up the mic.

Q: 8. Hiss ssound?

A: Turn off the AGC feature or turn down the gain on your camera if a hissing sound is evident

Q: 9. How long will microphone operate on AAA battery? Can I record sound for 1 hr or 2hrs.?

A: The microphone runs off the hot shoe from the Sony camera, does not run off batteries. You can record sound as long as the camera battery will last. This mike is for a Sony camera with Multi-Interface shoe only.

Q: 10. Will this work with the panasonic gh3 and will it use much of my camera's battery?

A: I have used with the Panasonic GH4. I'm sure it will work the same on the GH3. I does draw power from the camera, but not enough to be worth mentioning.

My passion in photography is wildlife, nature, scenic landscapes. Reducing shake in an image and remote shutter release a distance from the wildlife and especially birds is what this product has provided for me. I was able to use it right out of the box with little effort. Previous posts have warned to get the batteries in with the proper polarity. Look closely, the + and - indications are a diff difficult to see. Within the first hour of use I was able to capture images of humming birds clearly and sharply from a tripod. I was successful in placing the tripod and camera with 50MM lens a foot from the feeder and remotely actuating the shutter. My next use of the Shutter Boss II will be time lapse imagery of the night sky. The Boss can be configured to trigger something like 999 releases over a long period. This will give me star trax un attended!! I have not tried this yet but the instructions for set up seem reasonable and not too difficult. The Boss is made well, worked flawlessly, and can be used on other camera makes simply by purchasing the cable made for that camera for less than $10. The price is a little steep but the Boss II has features not found in the cheaper unknown brands. This is an investment I should have made years ago.

A lot of features and functions that eliminate using the second hand on my wrist watch and make long exposures easier. Well priced at B&H.

Although I haven't used this a lot yet, on a few test runs it has performed very well. You can tell immediately that it's a handy, long-lasting tool. It takes batteries but doesn't use very much power, and it still functions without batteries when plugged into the camera! So what is the point of the batteries? Haven't figured that out yet, unless it takes over when your camera batteries run out during really long time lapses. In any case, a great little tool and not too expensive. I plan to use it a lot.

I should have purchased this remote a long time ago. I never shot star trails before and the first time I tried the remote my shots turned out perfectly. Very pleased.

I bought the ShutterBoss II simply to be able to fire the shutter from a distance, and because it is a reasonable price. It is much more versatile than I realized, so now I'm planning try making time-lapse series of exposures to make videos, and remote long exposures for night photography. With the two cables included, I can use it with either my D600 or D810.
