Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the Polar Pro Variable NDs be used this?

A: Yes you can use the PolarPro Variable ND filters.

Q: 2. I have a Nikon Z50 and wish to go from a Nikkor DX 16-50 3.5-6.3 to a Nikkor DX 50-250/4.5-6.3 would the Heliopan 700177 be compatable with the threads on the lens. In the future I'll be purchasing a better set of filters what is the thread type on this step up adapter?

A: You can use the Heliopan 46-62mm Step-Up Ring (#177) on the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Lens (Black). With that you will than be able to use the same filters as the ones on the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Lens.

Q: 3. What is the outside diameter of this ring? Is it 100mm so that I can use a push on lens cap?

A: The outside diameter is around 97mm-98mm. A 100mm lens cap will be loose.

Q: 4. Hi, do you know if this lens will fit a Lomo 16-opf-12-1 Zoom 10-100mm? The thread seems to be around 75mm but I'm not sure.

A: Unfortuantely, we are not sure. It appears the LOMO 16OPF 12-1 Cine zoom lens 10-100/2.5 16mm lens is an older Russian lens that has since been discontinued. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any information listing the filter thread size for this lens.

Q: 5. Does this fit onto Leica Elmarit-R lens with series VII filter thread?

A: Apparently there are two versions of this lens. Series VII retaining ring should be 54mm so this step ring should get you to a 55mm filter size.

Q: 6. Does this cause heavy vignetting with prime lenses for example 50mm?

A: No, you should not get vignetting with a 50mm lens.

Q: 7. Do these step up rings fit the Xume magnetic rings that get added to a non-magnetic filter?

A: While it is possible that the Xume rings could fit, they have not been tested to our knowledge.

Q: 8. What is the thickness of this filter in mm, especially the outside 82mm diameter portion?

A: The thickness of this step up ring is about 4mm.

Q: 9. What is the pitch of the 86-95 step up ring? Does it match the Otus 85mm?

A: Sorry but unable to help. Don't know the Otus and don't know the pitch. All I can say is, that it's a quality ring.

Q: 10. Can this cause vignetting on a Laowa 7.5mm lens?

A: The Heliopan 46-58mm Step-Up Ring will not cause vignetting if attached to the Laowa 7.5 lens, but the "lens hood" must be removed to allow for the connection of the 46-58 step up ring.

Well machined. Doesn't bind. Should last forever.

While there may be less expensive step-up rings available, there are none more well made than the Heliopan. I use this step-up ring on the Nikon 28mm f/2.8 AIS lens with a Leica 67mm circular polarizer. It does not vignette.

This is a solid brass step up ring that lives up to Heliopan's reputation. This allows you to use 77mm filter on the Leica Noctilux f/0.95 lens.

I have used other sizes of this product...so when I got a new camera system with, of course, different size filters, I went right to Heliopan for my step-up ring. They work great and saves me from having to buy too many filters...which are much more expensive.

This ring allows me to occasionally use the SinghRay Circular Polarizer I purchased for my Canon 28-300 L series lens on a Canon 20mm wide angle lens. The threads on both sides of this ring smoothly attach to both the lens and to the filter. The brass has a wonderfully solid and smooth feel. I always have a concern about the potential for cross threading. When I attach this ring to either the lens or the filter there is an immediacy of feedback which makes me feel very confident that the threads are correctly aligned and won't be crossed.

Using for 58mm ND filters on smaller (micro four-thirds) Olympus lenses. Well constructed, works as it is supposed to, doesn't get stuck. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

A quality item - just has a good feel as you wind it on - no grabbing, so none of that worry about cross-threading. You get what you pay for!

An awesome, sturdy accessory to keep all my minolta filters the same size!

Hefty, durable ring. Dense brass. Smooth threads. Optimal release properties. Works best with THIN ring filters. Old style, thick ring filters will have longer male threads, causing the filter end to hit bottom before filter shoulder makes contact with Step-Up ring rim. Regardless, it works.
