The Countryman E6i Cardioid Microphone is a miniature ear-set microphone for virtually invisible operation in stage performances, trade shows, houses-of-worship, auctions, lectures and much more.

The cardioid version effectively minimizes off-axis feedback and noise from nearby monitor speakers, instruments and noisy sources. Flexible microphone positioning is maintained and the included windscreen minimizes the wind noise often associated with cardioid microphones.

The E6i is set apart from the original E6 with its softer flexible boom and silicon ear-pads. The flexible boom provides ease of boom adjustability to accommodate multi-user applications.

A wide variety of colors and connections are available for use with various wireless transmitters. This version is cocoa and features a Switchcraft 851 connector for use with Lectrosonics wireless transmitters.

A miniature cardioid capsule is mounted to a low-profile, flexible frame. This lightweight, unobtrusive design is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin.

The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual headset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy, as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate various wireless transmitters. The Duramax 2mm diameter cable provides extra strength, flexibility and durability.

The cardioid polar pattern is effective in minimizing off-axis residual noise from e nearby monitor speakers, instruments and loud sources. The result is increased signal-to-noise ratio and minimal feedback. The flexible boom provides a custom fit for multiple users and close microphone positioning. The E6i is also available in an omnidirectional version for maximum control over wind noise and plosives (popping).

This E6i's sensitivity response is optimized to accurately capture general speech without noise and distortion.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I received a set today and it sounds like there are loose parts in all three tubes. Is this normal? Thanks!

A: Yes, that is definitely normal. There are spring loaded levers inside that's making the noise.

Q: 2. Are these tubes compatible with a Canon 70D and a Sigma 105mm macro lens?

A: They should operate fine. The only electrical components inside are simple pass through contacts for passing lens information to the camera body. There are no optical components inside, just air. There are some compromises involved with macro tube use. When in use, focus to infinity is usually not possible.Working distance becomes very close.Depth of field/plane of focus becomes very thin.Magnification = Total Extension / Focal Length + Lens' native magnification. In the case of your Sigma 105 macro, native magnification is 1:1.With the full 68mm stack of Kenkos, you'll get 68/105=0.65x additional magnification, 1.65x total. The shorter the lens' focal length, the greater the additional magnification. For example, using the full 68mm set with a 40mm pancake lens, magnification increases from 0.18x to 1.88x.Downside remains depth of field. 68mm extension with a 40mm lens results in depth of field the requires either a subject (and its plane of focus) be parallel to the sensor and/or focus stacking multiple frames. So, not sure what you're hoping for adding these to a 105mm macro lens, there will be some additional magnification, nothing radically different as with a shorter focal length. Can't help with crop factor differences, no experience, no interest.

Q: 3. Can this be used for the Canon M50.

A: No, it cannot. The Vello Auto Extension Tube Set for Canon EOS is designed for use on Canon cameras that use the EF or EF-S lens mount. The Canon EOS M50 Mirrorless Digital Camera uses the smaller EF-M lens mount and will not directly accept EF or EF-S lenses or adapters. If you are looking for an option compatible for use with the Canon EOS M50, I would instead recommend the Movo Photo MT-CM47 3-Piece AF Chrome Macro Extension Tube Set for Canon EOS Mirrorless Cameras B&H # MOEXTCM47, if you need to retain autofocus, or the FotodioX Macro Extension Tube Set for Canon EOS M (EF-M) Cameras: for Extreme Close-Up Photography, B&H # FOMACROTUBEO, if you do not mind focusing manually.

Q: 4. Do I need to purchase a separate Tentacle Sync device to sync the time code of the mics to the time code in my camera? Shooting with a 5D IV. Thanks

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 (Dual Set) (B&H# TETE2MK2) comes with two identical Sync E MK II Timecode Generators. Typically, once they are jam synced, one is used to input timecode data into the camera and the other is used to do so into an audio recording device. Since you'd be buying two at once if you get the "Dual Set," you would not need to purchase an additional Sync E MK II Timecode Generator if you are only using two devices -- one for recording audio and the other (e.g. your Canon camera) for recording video. You could not do the synching without having two such jam synched timecode generators working at the same time, however.

Q: 5. Hi, I own a GH4 with a panasonic 20mm 1.7, and a 45mm 1.7. Will it work with the kenko extension tube?

A: I used mine on an Olympus OMD-EM10, and they worked very well. They should work on your Panasonic, with a few caveats. Since the Olympus has sensor-shift image stabilization, I could not test to see if they have the connections for IS on Panasonic lenses. Also, you will have a very short working distance with those lenses. The 45 mm should work OK, but the 20 may be a little short. I mainly use mine with a 60 mm macro, but have used them on a 12-40mm zoom (mostly at 40mm) and also with the Panny 100-300 zoom. The longer the focal length of your lens, the better the working distance, which is especially important for insects. The Kenko tubes seemed well built, so I bought a set for my Nikon camera too.

Q: 6. Can you use the extension rings with a true macro lens?

A: Yes you can. I have a Canon 100mm macro that I have used the extension tubes with and still get beautiful pictures - even of butterflies that dont stay still very long come out sharp. I would recommend this product. I keep it with me all the time.

Q: 7. Can it be powered with external dc input?

A: It is charged by micro USB. You can continuously power the Tentacle Sync via the USB port to an portable battery bank.

Q: 8. are these tubes compatable with a canon t4i?

A: Yes, they are.

Q: 9. I have a Nikon D3200 and a Sigma DC 18-250 lens, 1:3.5-6.3. Are these extension tubes compatible with this set up and if they are, are there any issues at all that I should be concerned with?

A: These extension tubes will be fully compatible with the D3200 and Sigma 18-250 lens. The extension tubes will allow you to focus closer than the set minimum focus distance of the lens. There will be some light loss when using extension tubes. Adding about 40% of the lens focal length will result in the loss of 1 f/stop. Additionally, focus to infinity will be lost.

Q: 10. Will these components come in a tentacle bag?

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 (Dual Set) kit does not include a bag.
