This is a follow up to my earlier review of the 16-85mm lens on 12/24/15 which was exchanged by B&H due to very poor image quality. The replacement lens I received a few days ago is as different as chalk and cheese to the one I returned. The construction and finish of the lens is excellent with a really smooth and firm zoom action with zero barrel creep. The image is sharp with good contrast and color rendering is very accurate at virtually all apertures and focal lengths, I have a similiar lens by a leading camera company and this Pentax lens is better in many areas. I am delighted with the lens and very pleased that B&H exchanged it fast and with no hassle.

Really strong, sturdy magnet. It says up to 100lbs and which seems accurate to me. I can see this handy in a variety of situations. I took pictures of it attached to a refrigerator for an example. This would be great for a backlight in a small room or kitchen. I used just a small light I had on hand. I added a " male to 3/8" female screw adapter and it attached very easily. But I can see using it with a much bigger light fixture. As long as the metal surface was appropriate. It really is strong. It would also be a great mount for a small camera or light on a car, or other vehicle. Especially because it has a nice rubber coating to prevent any scratching. This makes mounting to a car less risky. Overall this magnet mount is very well made and strong. I see it being a nice addition to my grip and mounting gear for rigging a small camera and a great way to hide a light without needing a stand. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

When used on the K3 the 16-85 is a great every day lens. It focuses fast and accurately. Color is close to perfect.

Before this, I used Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens with my K-3 as a walk-around, for pretty much everything. I bought this Pentax lens based on good reviews and its WR feature. I think it's perfect combo with K-3 for traveling and walk-around outside (so I don't have to worry about the weather conditions). I've used a couple of times so far, outdoors and indoors. Here is what I feel about it: high quality build, feels well balanced with K-3, sharp open wide, helps for shooting indoors, but still kind of slow indoors, I had to use ISO 6400 to get decent speed. I use f/8+ for outdoors, so it's sharp, good color rendering. As a hobbyist, this is a decent lens for me. I bought it when it's on sales, so the price is about right (I think the regular price is kind of expensive for regular shooter). For indoors, I think I'm still going to use my Tamron lens since it's faster (although it's not as wide, if I need wide indoors, e.g. for architecture, I can use my 15mm f/4). Anyway, I'd recommend it to anyone who's going after sharp images, doesn't mind spending extra dollars.
