Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. In the list of accessories included with this kit theres a Dedicated EX100A SpeedringCan this speedring be used with softboxes made by other softbox manufacturers?

A: Unfortunately, the speed ring included in this kit would be limited to use with the included softboxes.

Q: 2. Can I use this with Sigma S 150-600mm ?

A: No problem. I mount a Nikon D750 with the Sigma 150-600 and it is very stable. The ballhead spec is 37 lbs load, and it is very solid. Tighten the screw and it doesn't sag at all. You may want to adjust the QR on the lens foot to get the best balance.

Q: 3. what is the tension control?

A: 3 knobs - big one controls tilt up down sideways, smaller one on the bottom allows turning side to side and top one is to secure base plate. All work very well.

Q: 4. Are there two monolights in this kit? As the title says? Because when i select what is in the box list it only shows one monolight only.

A: Yes, there are two.

Q: 5. What gels can I clip on to the barn doors in order to play with the colors? The gels I already own started warping, so I took them off the barn doors.

A: You can use Lee or Rosco gels but don't keep the gels too close to the light.

Q: 6. If I purchase a pc chord adapter, is this compatible with a canon rebel t3?

A: Yes you can use the Vello Universal Hot Shoe Adapter for PC Connection B&H # VEHSAPCU in order to sync these monolights with a Canon EOS Rebel T3. Additionally, you may also want to purchase a light meter to help measure the output of these monolights. It can be connected with the same sync cable. One such meter is the Sekonic L-308S-U Flashmate Light Meter B&H # SEL308SU. Please see the images below for reference.

Q: 7. How many strobes. How many soft boxes in the kit.? Modeling lights?

A: This kit would include two Impact EX 100 monolights, two softboxes with speed rings, two sync cables, two power cords, flashtube/modeling lamp for each head, a reflector for each head, spare fuses for each head, Impact 8 ft light stands and a 1 year warranty on each head. The only thing not included in this kit is a bag.

Q: 8. My question concerns an Oben BB-0 ball head which I purchased back in July from B&H.If the head is not tightened down all the way in the horizontal axis the camera can be giggled (for lack of a better word). Is this normal or is there a problem?

A: Yes that is normal. You can tighten the tension knob. But for it to be fully secure you need to tighten the main knob.

Q: 9. Will this strobe work with 3rd party modifiers, or only the supplied softboxes?

A: That model strobe uses the Elinchrom mount also called EX. There are a few different manufactures that make modifiers with that mount, Elinchrom, Impact and Interfit. Note to be careful when picking it out that it is the correct mount. Impact and Interfit make different mounts not just EX.

Q: 10. Are these lights tungsten or daylight ( 5500K). Can I use my Nikon on auto white or have to balance?

A: Strobe lights are typically daylight-balanced. You would either use the daylight-balanced or flash-balanced white balance preset on your camera, or you would use the Custom White Balance setting to set a custom white balance. Auto White Balance is not recommended for strobe usage.
