Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What protocol does the handle use? Is it a standard lanc remote?

A: That is correct, the handle itself uses LANC protocols. However included with this handle is the needed LANC to Multi-Terminal Cable which will allow it to work with the A7 II line up of cameras it is listed for.

Q: 2. How do I remove the MH494BH head from the Manfrotto befree advanced? It simply spins free for me, never coming off. Thank you.

A: Be sure the plate directly under the MH494BH head is not spinning; the head itself can be unscrewed off of the mounting screw, but it's possible for the plate to come lose and also move.

Q: 3. Can you reverse the center column on this tripod? How hard is that to do?

A: Yes the column can be reversed as per the user manual.

Q: 4. Well supports a Canon 5D Mark IV with 24-105mm. With 70-200 F2.8? Is there a lot of difference in stability and weight? Between aluminum and carbon fiber

A: Carbon fiber is stronger and lighter. With that said the stability should be the same. I have the aluminum and unless you are worried about beating the crap or of the tripod I think it's fine

Q: 5. How sturdy is it for astrophotography? Would it shake with a little wind?

A: This is a good travel tripod but I would not recommend it for astro-photography.

Q: 6. In a response to a previous question, it was stated that you can change the top plate on the ball head so that it will work with Arca-swiss. What is that plate and if used, will it weaken the integrity of the tripod and head?

A: The head comes with a quick release plate that will work with Manfrotto and or Arca Swiss on OTHER ball heads. You could however change the ballhead out for an Arca type head or you can change the qr clamp on this head to accept Arca plates.

Q: 7. How do you shoot vertical with this tripod? Can you adjust the plate for vertical shots?

A: Simple loosen the ball and set the camera in the vertical position.

Q: 8. Can it hold canon r3+rf600 f4+mvh502?

A: The Befree can hold the Canon R3, 600mm RF and the MVH502 video head.

Q: 9. Will this tripod work with the standard or dual peak design plates?

A: Yes, it will work with the dual plate.

Q: 10. Is this tripod able to accommodate the weight of a Canon R6, Battery Grip, and a 400 2.8 RF Lens?

A: The Manfrotto Befree Advanced Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with 494 Ball Head would not be recommended for use with a long lens like a 400mm f2.8. A stronger tripod such as this Robus would be recommended instead: https://bhpho.to/3eenxYf
