    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used on the B10?

A: As long as you have the speedring https://bhpho.to/2YE8Ee9 it will work nicely.

Q: 2. The Velcro tabs near the speed ring seem to be too small. What's the trick to getting the Velcro to stick together?

A: If you make sure they're as close as possible to each other they should stick together well. You may have to pull them (not too hard) so they're taut. Feel free to take a short and video on your phone to demonstrate the problem and email it to us at stagelighting@bhphoto.com if you want us to take a look at your situation. I assume someone else will need to hold the phone to video you.

Q: 3. Will this used on the Profoto Speedlight Speedring?

A: You need special speeding for this modifier.

Q: 4. Would this softbox also fit the Profoto D1? Thanks.

A: While this can fit a Profoto D1, it is not recommended for use with it due to the heat given off by the modeling lamp.

Q: 5. Does the OCF Softbox work with the D1?

A: While this softbox will fit the D1, it is not recommended since the modeling lamp is a 300 watt tungsten halogen type lamp and the since the softbox is not rated for heat.

Q: 6. Has anybody had issues with the metal heads (at the end of each rod) coming out lose ? I have had at least a couple of them come out within a week of purchasing the product and I'm pretty surprised, assuming this is a Profoto. Am i mishandling the octahead while setting it up (though it doesn't seem like it) or has anyone else faced similar issues ?

A: its a common problem with all profoto products as I have hundreds of them. If you call profoto they will send you new ones no question asked

    Q: 7. How deep is the 1' x 3' softbox?

    A: 16 in the middle

Q: 8. Will the B10's work with the Profoto OCF Softbox (1x3')?

A: Yes you would need a OCF speed ring Profoto Speed Ring for OCF Flash Heads B&H # PROCFSR MFR # 101210

Q: 9. How small does this soft box pack down and how long is the longest rod?

A: Inside the carrying case, the whole thing is 27 long, 6 wide and folds relatively flat. The rods are all 26 long.

Q: 10. Do we know of the difference in quality( light quality and build quality) between the new OCF range compared to RFI?I know they are designed to be more portable but at what cost?I can't find any reviews online yet.Cheers

A: The light quality should be similar to the light quality to the RFi light modifiers. Due to the intent of the Profoto B1 and B2 lights (designed for mobility or photographers on the move), the Profoto OCF light modifiers are designed to be much lighter, and are made from strong glass fiber. It was also designed specifically for these light fixtures, which use LED modeling lights instead of the brighter (and much hotter) halogen modeling lights used with Profoto's other studio light fixtures. However, due to the construction material of the OCF light modifiers, they cannot handle the heat of the halogen modeling lights, which the RFi light modifiers were designed for and are better apt to handle the heat. As stated, the light quality may be identical (or at the least, similar) to the RFi light modifiers. The build quality does differ, as the OCF modifiers are more lightweight (and the material make them more economical as well), but they are simply not recommended for use with all Profoto equipment; instead, they are recommended only for Profoto's OCF system. (Do note the B1 and B2 lights can accept all Profoto light modifiers, including the RFi system; it is just the reverse is not so.)

I use this along side my RCF modifiers and it works great! Light and easy to move around as well. Color is consistent with my other Profoto products - Highly recommend!

I am using this light for table top cross Light photography, and wow, it has beautiful soft light and wrap around the subject. I would recommend this to anyone watching a soft light that works beautifully with the pro photo a 10.

This is my second softbox. That being said, obviously this is a good product. I love the soft lighting it gives off. It collapses very easily and takes up no space.
